RE: Battle of the Bulge - Cracker - 04-23-2011 Can I eat eggs? It is Easter and all... We had a discussion at work about eating Easter eggs. Someone said it is gross because they have been on the ground. Klassy Cracker reminded her they come out of a chicken's ass... (Yes, I know it is a cloaca, but it is still ass to me, not rednecky enough to think of it as "pussy". hahaha) RE: Battle of the Bulge - thekid65 - 04-23-2011 (04-23-2011, 03:12 PM)IMaDick Wrote: if you can afford it have your beef slaughtered and cut yourself, county fairs are the best place to buy, same with the pork and poultry. Actually, in the long run...this is not a big expense, and quite a bit cheaper in the long run. I've been wanting to do this for awhile (buy 1/4-1/2 cow). We just need to get off our asses and buy a chest freezer for the garage, RE: Battle of the Bulge - sally - 04-23-2011 (04-23-2011, 03:17 PM)Cracker Wrote: Can I eat eggs? It is Easter and all...Eggs are healthy and a good source of protein. You can eat 2 eggs a day without having to worry about it giving you high cholesterol. RE: Battle of the Bulge - Cracker - 04-23-2011 I read a Men's Health article the other day saying cholesterol (either kind) really isn't that bad. Most people die because they sit down too much. Sitting down all the time and having low cholesterol will kill you faster than having high counts. Of course it's always cheaper to do it yourself..but damnit..I like being served. I don't mind the mark-up..and besides, it's not like it's a once-a-week meal. I have a really good fondue recipe that I got from a friend in Switzerland and I think it's actually more expensive to make it at home. The cheese alone is expensive and good imported cheese makes all the difference in it. RE: Battle of the Bulge - Maggot - 04-23-2011 Last year I was about 245lbs today I bounce (hahaha) from 200-205 depending on the holiday. But I ate lots of pretzels and oatmeal for a while, high fiber thats where its at. I have a Bavarian meathaus in the area, so I can get good imported cheeses relatively inexpensively. It comes out perfect everytime I make it and it's pretty easy to prepare. 1 cup dry white wine 1⁄2 pound shredded Emmental cheese 1⁄2 pound shredded Gruyere cheese 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour 1⁄4 teaspoon salt 1⁄2 tablespoon lemon juice A splash of Kirsh ( it's a horrible tasting liquor, but good in the fondue for some reason) 1 clove garlic Crusty French or Italian bread Rub fondue pot with garlic and simmer wine and lemon juice in the pot. Toss cheeses with flour and add to pot a handful at a time. Stir after each addition of cheese until melted. When all the cheese has melted, stir in salt and kirsh. Serve with cut-up bread cubes. More wine can be added if it's too thick. RE: Battle of the Bulge - username - 04-23-2011 (04-23-2011, 12:17 PM)Cracker Wrote: You have a small bone structure. I doubt you would ever be hefty, even if you tried. Sorry, I don't have an answer for your ass. I think Britney Spears and I are the same height. Remember when she got razzed for putting on weight? She did get kind of pudgy and the truth is, she probably only put on about 10-15lbs. At my biggest (not including pregnancy), I was a size 9, now I'm around a 2 (I'd be happy at a 4). But when I was a 9, I was definitely pudgy. RE: Battle of the Bulge - IMaDick - 04-23-2011 Everyone is born with fat cells that number may continue to be increased through the early 20's, so if you're not fat by 30 you probably won't ever really be obese, but those fat cells can be enlarged if you're good at eating. RE: Battle of the Bulge - Cracker - 04-23-2011 I'm surprised we don't discuss this more. Diet/lifestyle is a huge part of everyone's day, whether they realize it or not. Thanks for the recipe, Big sal. haha I had to google the first cheese (dumbass American that I am, it's Swiss cheese). I know you have to melt that crap slowly or it turns into a big ball of stringy stuff with grease... I would love to see a pudgy user pic. Just for kicks. I am surprised dick knows so much about nutrition. I am judging you, but you don't seem the type. Pleasant surprise. I don't want to get sick because of what I eat. That seems like a willfully negligent way to live. I am also getting to be more of a vegetarian every year. I doubt I ever become fully vegan, loves me some pork and sausage and bacon and burgers and steaks, but I am more aware of the implications of choosing to eat an animal. Cows only taste good if you don't think about their loving brown eyes. Pigs aren't cute to me, so they are fair game. I am making potato salad, baked beans, and ribs for tomorrow, so I'll just eat a salad and asparagus today. RE: Battle of the Bulge - Lady Cop - 04-23-2011 i never had a weakness for sweets, candy, soda, all that sugary crap. i'll eat some chocolate bunny ears though. but i do have a weakness for excellent baked goods, breads and pastries from a good bakery. if i worked in one i'd be a huge tub of adipose tissue and never fit in santa's sleigh. oooooo fresh hot Italian bread, any crusty bread, napoleons, cannoli, be still my heart! i used to make all that stuff, rarely bother anymore. i baked like a pastry chef when kids were young and my parents living~~ RE: Battle of the Bulge - Maggot - 04-23-2011 (04-23-2011, 03:50 PM)Cracker Wrote:(04-23-2011, 03:48 PM)Maggot Wrote: Last year I was about 245lbs today I bounce (hahaha) from 200-205 depending on the holiday. RE: Battle of the Bulge - Fibonacci Prima - 04-23-2011 I have nothing new or interesting but I have really enjoyed going paleo. RE: Battle of the Bulge - Lady Cop - 04-23-2011 Paul Mason here, of England, only eats fish & chips. he's dieting. I could never touch something like that & if it touched me I would be shrieking like a fishwife. *shudders* RE: Battle of the Bulge - aussiefriend - 04-24-2011 There are lots of reasons for obesity, genetic, medications, gastrointestinal problems, oh yes and finally stuffing your face with Double Whopper Cheeseburgers. |
