Remember Burt Reynolds in Strip Tease? That's the picture I'm getting.

RE: Tool Thread - Duchess - 07-03-2012

I have the basic tools here in my home but if I need something bigger I go into his shop or buzz the stable and tell them to send maintenance down. I like tools a lot & have learned to use them but saws make me nervous which is too bad because sometimes when I say, babe, I've got an idea, I see the urge to flee cross over his face.

RE: Tool Thread - crash - 07-03-2012

I did my apprenticeship with a really old school mechanic. He bought me my first set of tools and took a little weekly from my wages to pay them off. Stahlwille all the way. He taught me to look after my tools, clean them before I put them away and also how to keep track of them.

I still have the whole set and the rolling cabinet they came in 30 years later, bar one spanner that I broke with 10ft of 2" pipe on it...

I have a shed full of tools. Some I use all the time, some only now and then, and some I haven't used for ages. But I'm thankful to be able to walk out there and put my hand on whatever tool I want when I need it and know how to use it properly. I make sure I teach my kids how to use them properly too when they want to learn.

I couldn't imagine being a tool tard. You may as well just shoot me.

Personally, I'd be completely turned off by any man who wasn't handy, the first thing that comes to mind whenever I encounter one like that is pansyass.

RE: Tool Thread - Lady Cop - 07-03-2012

i have a tool box with all the basic stuff most people need. anything major i wouldn't attempt myself anyway. i call Maggot!

i just bought a new husky chainsaw, my sons use that to cut firewood. they've nearly deforested the neighborhood now. hah

and the tools of my trade, semi-automatic smith 9mm and handcuffs.

Wanna have a Glock vs. S&W argument LC?

nah, been there, done that 37 times. hah
my Sheriff didn't allow us to carry Glocks anyway. i was issued a HK 45, but it was a little too big for my hand, and the smith perfect.

That surprises me.
It's our department's weapon of choice.
Then again, other than one other agency in California, we're the only ones that are still authorized to carry a sap and load our shotguns with one ounce slugs.
(Something to do with parts of the county are not easily accessible for cover calls and your closest beat partner could be 20 minutes or more away.)

This is my favorite tool:

OBK's on the job? Somehow that doesn't suprise me.

Knowing your history with strange men on the internet, it's likely you'll come home from work to find Ma in your bedroom wearing a tool belt minus the levi's.

Geesh Sal, don't scare me like that.

RE: Tool Thread - SIXFOOTERsez - 07-04-2012

I have a nice roll around set of boxes chock full of mechanicking tools and cabinets and drawers full of carpentering, plumbing and electrical tools and a very heavy tool bag in the truck, just in case. Got the weapons end covered too. Have been carrying a blade of some kind ever since I was 8 yrd old. These days its a Buck112 I found when I was 17 and in the Air Force, it was inside the bombardiers hatch on a B-52 and interfering with the hatch lock light. Excellent blade BTW. Since I do have a CCW I can admit to carrying everywhere I go, these days its a Remington 1911 R1 in 45 ACP, Love this gun.

RE: Tool Thread - Ma Huang Sor - 07-04-2012

I still have my Buck Folding Hunter from high school days. Only knife I've ever needed.

You're still jelly bro.

RE: Tool Thread - Donovan - 07-04-2012

I like a good basic set of tools and multifunction is even better. I used to have a sweet knife that was damn near indestructable but I swapped it for something and regretted it ever since.

You might be surprised by the number of cops & lawyers in here...or not.

RE: Tool Thread - IMaDick - 07-04-2012

I have an awesome set of tools.

Far too many to list but they go from very simple to extremely specialized.

And since knives were mentioned, I carry the same knife Ma pictured mine is a little more used but that's irrelevant to the point.

I carry everyday and everywhere. Sig 229 40 cal.

RE: Tool Thread - Ma Huang Sor - 07-04-2012

Mine's fairly worn too, but it's always in my back pocket or belt tab. Couldn't go anywhere without it.

You're all good.
Just flash me your MOCK ID card and you'll get a pass.
