I mean if I was a dumbass stuck on a highway I might reconsider driving an electric based car during a snowstorm. Maybe a media outlet could check into how many electric cars are buried out there. And what about 4WD vehicles, Does anyone out there even think about that before they head out to buy puppy chow? Just wondering from my throne here. RE: +your daily weather report+ - BigMark - 01-04-2022 You dirty. RE: +your daily weather report+ - MirahM - 01-04-2022 (01-04-2022, 08:05 PM)Maggot Wrote: I wonder how many were Tesla's? And what about 4WD vehicles, Does anyone out there even think about that before they head out to buy puppy chow? One of our mountain passes gets closed frequently during winter due to poor drivers. Sometimes there are semi trucks involved too. Its ugly. I think they are cracking down on the chaining up which is good. When I went over during the holidays I was impressed w/ how many people I saw chaining up. I was in a shuttle, so I didn't have to bother with it. I recall seeing some Teslas on my trip in Nov. I don't think I saw as many in December. Sometimes the people in the 4wd vehicles are a problem too-they get overconfident. Luckily my vehicle is an AWD and so far I am pretty happy w/ how it handles in the snow. RE: +your daily weather report+ - MirahM - 01-04-2022 In fact, the pass is closed right now. I couldn't even go home if I wanted to. Unless I went Stevens Pass, but that is just ridiculous, I did that one year. No thank you. After being on the highway there are all of these streets that go through towns and who knows which ones have good plows or not. It is a pretty drive in the fall tho. Or I could go completely sount and bypass the mountain passes, but that would be way too long, so I guess I will just stay home. RE: +your daily weather report+ - Duchess - 01-06-2022 I keep getting weather alerts. More snow is incoming tonight. Someone I love has been without electricity in Virginia since the storm moved through the other night and he's been told it could be days before he has it back. He sent me a picture of his road and you can't even tell it's a road because of all the downed trees. RE: +your daily weather report+ - MirahM - 01-06-2022 That sucks. And probably no wood stove either? : ( It has been snowing since about 9 PM, we are currently at 6 inches of fresh snow. RE: +your daily weather report+ - Clang McFly - 01-06-2022 Not currently snowing. Roads look good. We got maybe an inch of snow or less. RE: +your daily weather report+ - MirahM - 01-06-2022 Meausred 19" this morning and still snowing. Most of the town is shut down. I am seeing messages that say for people to stay home unless they absolutely have to travel. RE: +your daily weather report+ - MirahM - 01-06-2022 Some of my pics: RE: +your daily weather report+ - Clang McFly - 01-06-2022 (01-06-2022, 02:50 PM)MirahM Wrote: Meausred 19" this morning and still snowing. I don't want to jinx it but I'm sure Albany is due for a big one or two either later this month or in February. I've never seen an Albany winter without a snow emergency or two. RE: +your daily weather report+ - MirahM - 01-06-2022 This is one of the highest amounts of snow this area has seen in a while. There are some other dates like 96 that got 20" and something in 55 and maybe 2012. RE: +your daily weather report+ - Duchess - 01-06-2022 I think your pix are beautiful, Love Child. When I was a kid we would have snowbanks nearly as high as a house and we'd make forts in them. I have nothing but fond memories of big snow. The only time we ever were lucky enough to have snow days is when everything was iced over & down here the schools often close before a single flake has fallen, all it takes is for it to be forecasted. What are the temps in your area? I remember an ice storm back when I was 12. Lived out in the country, and everything looked magical. We had a fireplace and got though without any freezing pipes. If you're asking what the temps were like back then, I can't remember, it's been a long time and I don't think I was a young person who would have paid attention to that. Winters lasted for a long time, but I didn't know any different, people took their snowmobiles to the one and only local store and all pickups had a gun rack with guns in it. It was another place & time. Now I'm getting nostalgic again. You know the North Country so you probably have some idea of what I speak. I have fond memories of big snow also. It was nice to be a kid and not worry about shoveling the snow. Just snowball fights, sledding, and enjoying a nice hot cup of cocoa made with your mom's love when you come in. Spent the afternoon digging each others vehicles out and brushing them off in case it all freezes tonight. The snow plow came and got stuck. The 2nd plow came and it took them 3 hours to get that one unstuck. He actually sort of hit a wall etc etc, so it wasn't really the snow it was the wall. |
