The small Alaska fishing town of Cordova is used to dealing with excessive snow - but not like this.
Residents have turned to the state to help them dig out of massive snow levels that have collapsed roofs, triggered avalanches and even covered doors, trapping some people in their homes.
A statewide emergency was declared on Friday following three weeks of relentless snow, which overwhelmed local crews working around the clock and filled snow dump sites.

Many of you live in northern states, but I think most would agree that MN is considered the icebox of the nation.
Not only do we not have any snow on the ground (we've had a total of 11" the whole season so far at MSP), but today it's supposed to be 45F and tomorrow 49F. Our average high temp for today is 24F.

Wintry Mess Advances North
Thursday - Snow will accumulate several inches over northern New England and northern Upstate New York. Heaviest accumulations - 6 to 10 inches - will be found in the Adirondacks, Green and White Mountains. Look for snowy road conditions on Interstates 87, 91 and 93. Of course this is all very good news for the ski resorts and their business.
Late Thu Night/Friday - The Northeast prepares for another shot of storminess as a winter storm from the Midwest advances to the east on Thursday night. A strong upper level impulse will eject out of the southern Appalachians and slingshot northeast into New England during Friday. It will bring a renewed bout of rain and snow for the region.

Someone was hanging laundry on the line to dry the other day, it was nearly 50, they put it on the news. By tomorrow, we're supposed to have 6 inches of snow. Of course, they said that a week ago. And then next week, back into the 30's and 40's. It's all fucked up.
