RE: bad storm coming... - The Antagonist - 12-08-2009

I'm pretty sure without the Romans you wouldn't either.

RE: bad storm coming... - Cynical Ninja - 12-08-2009

Correct.

We give historical credit where it is due.

You really are a dumb ass. People were coming from all over the world, dope. First the Vikings, then the Spanish and Portugese with Christopher Columbus. Then you and France tried to plant colonies in the 16th century and failed. Then in the 17th century, England, France, and the Dutch made permanent colonies. Spain had Florida. Yeah, you helped alright - most people, for example, that settled Virginia were indentured servants fleeing England to stop being abused. Then:

Roman Catholics were the first major religious group to immigrate to the New World, as settlers in the colonies of Portugal and Spain (and later, France) were required to belong to that faith. English and Dutch colonies, on the other hand, tended to be more religiously diverse. Settlers to these colonies included Anglicans, Dutch Calvinists, English Puritans, English Catholics, Scottish Presbyterians, French Huguenots, German and Swedish Lutherans, as well as Quakers, Mennonites, Amish, Moravians and Jews of various nationalities.

Puritans, Spanish, Scottish, Irish, Dutch, all big settlers. Spanish coins were our main coins, even after we created our own mint after Ratification of the Constitution. So while there were plenty of people from England (many slaves - thanks) and they were largely under British control, there was already a bed of diversity and an immigration flow that was other than English before and after you started putting colonies here. So, of course America would have existed. It already existed, it just wasn't settled by foreign colonies if you go back before it was discovered, but then, guess what. It was going to be colonized after it was discovered, period. Which it was, by all sorts of different people from different Nations escaping oppression and tyranny. You know, that stuff England was famous for and still keeps their Queen around to remind themselves of under the guise of "tradition." You should be ashamed.

Here is a chart from when records started, in 1820 (this was shortly after the second time we kicked your ass, in 1812):

As long as there were tyrants like you around, America was going to keep getting colonized by a wide variety of groups.

Now shut the fuck up and go stick an American flagpole up your Queen's ass before we do it for you.

We got a lot of snow yesterday, probably about 6+ inches. I ended up getting new tires since my car was sliding really bad, that's $500 out of pocket.

C'est la vie.

Blah, blah, blah, waffle, waffle, waffle.

None of that drivel changes the fact that no Great Britain, no America, an undeniable fact that is obviously eating you up inside but you may yet one day come to terms with. You owe your very defining characteristics as a nation to the Magna Carta and other English ideas not in any way to the rest of the European cultures and nations.

And once again you are welcome.

RE: bad storm coming... - Middle Finger - 12-09-2009

No discovery of America = no America, dumb ass. America is built upon a starting over idea, a place to start over with freedom. Your nation serves as a source of tyranny among other tyrants that sent people running to the new land.

So yeah, we thank you. Thanks for being a tyrannical asshole so that your indentured servants can get away from you. Dope.

RE: bad storm coming... - Cynical Ninja - 12-09-2009

uh-huh.

No Great Britain, no America as you know it.

Fact.

Full stop.

Thanks for playing.

Better luck next time.

RE: bad storm coming... - Middle Finger - 12-09-2009

America was discovered and colonized before and after you came along, but go ahead, keep thinking it was not going to keep attracting those escaping oppression. Even though entire States were set up without you, like Florida set up by Spain, you keep going.

RE: bad storm coming... - Cynical Ninja - 12-09-2009

"Founding" fathers - English

American constitution - Compiled using the Magna Carta and English law books as a blueprint.

No Britain, no founding fathers, no constitution, no America as you know it.

RE: bad storm coming... - Middle Finger - 12-09-2009

Yes, of course England was a major influence and source, but the bottom line is what I described previously: the flee from tyranny and the colonization of a new world was started and continued with diversity before, during, and after you.

No tyranny, No beacon of freedom that has become known as America. Thanks for supplying the tyranny and oppression to fuel things so much. As our Declaration of Independence says - shut the fuck up and move over, we don't need or want you, never did.

No, that's your wonderful countries role in the world now.

Our role is to keep giving handouts and protection to washed up medieval bullshit empires like England, actually.

I want some snow, damnit !...It is unnatural to have my lovely, lighted holiday deer fake grazing in the green, green grass.
