For all the good folks who have been knitting sweaters for the penguins affected by the oil spill in New Zealand, a recent update says they are cool now..and definatly have enough.

Basically, when you get even a drop of oil on these birds, it opens up a channel so water can penetrate,” Kevin McGowan of the Cornell University Lab of Ornithology told ABC News, adding that the effect is “like a hole in their wetsuit.”

By dressing the penguins in sweaters, conservationists explain that it protects the burds from ingesting the oil when they preen their feathers, as well as keep them warm before and after they are treated by clean-up workers.

So far, Skeinz has received more than 15,000 sweaters from knitters worldwide who responded to to their website posting, which included patterns and instructions for making them. As a result, no more are needed at this time.

Well, there was this zoo, see...and they had a couple of penguins, see. Thing is these two boy penguins kinda were "dating"..you understand? We the zoo would not have this, and split them up. Can't have the kiddies seeing gay penguins. Well, by popular demand, they have decided to let the boys get back together.
