Jesus. My part feral cat was nearing 20 when she started to go. I think she visited the vet maybe twice when she was a kitten. When your pet is a certain age most people know when something is treatable or just old age.
How old is she, Dick? 4?

A ripe old age for a doggy (stating the obvious). I didn't want to take my cat to the vet unless I had to. It's traumatic for them. She actually died on the way to the vet to get put down but she didn't suffer terribly prior. She got wobbly, meow'd a lot for an hour or two and then died in my daughter's arms on the way to the vet. Peacefully and without getting stuck with needles etc.
If dogs and cats had living wills, I think they'd skip the crazy resuscitation efforts.
