Trump Pledges not to Run as Independent
Earlier this week, the RNC asked all Republican candidates to sign a pledge stating that if they leave the race, they will not run as Independent candidates and will remain loyal to the Republican party.
Of course, that left people wondering whether Trump would sign the pledge, given he'd refused to make it verbally during the debates last month.
Today, Trump signed the pledge, noting that he felt he had been treated fairly by the Republican party when he met with RNC leaders about it at Trump Tower.
The pledge is a political document, not a legally binding one. Trump could later do an about-face without legal ramifications. But, he says he has no intention of changing his mind.
Here's the pledge:
I, _______, affirm that if I do not win the 2016 Republican nomination for President of the United States I will endorse the 2016 Republican presidential nominee, regardless of who it is.
I further pledge that I will not seek to run as an independent or write-in candidate nor will I seek to accept the nomination for president of any other party.

I don't know, but it would definitely give Webb and Chafee some more visibility if they're still running.
Also, Biden would be in a sweet spot to secure the Democratic nod. I think Biden, not Bernie, would snag the vast majority of Clinton's supporters.
Biden's and Clinton's platforms are more aligned than Bernie Sander's and Clinton's (based on what I've seen and heard).

I'm not assuming that Hillary won't run the full race.
If she doesn't, I doubt she'll blame non-existent head injuries though.

Thank God you're here to spell things out for me HotD. I'm beginning to wonder how I made it this far without you. Between this and the definition of exactly who has been in history I am learning so much.
As to my head injury comment, it was along the lines of Marsha saying "something suddenly came up". See, if she had to drop out of the race she'd have to have some sort of cover for the humiliation... so I postulated she might exploit the old head issue she had to explain it away. But now that I've had to explain it, I see how grievously wrong I was to make such a sarcastic remark on such a deeply serious subject.
Oh, and for those not paying attention she did have a head injury; a concussion from hitting her head after fainting. Took her six months to get over completely, so said her husband.
Anyhoo, I was replying to Maggot. Next time I'll quote him to avoid any confusion.

But, if you read my post to you again, there's no jab at you.
You said Clinton won't drop out, and I clarified that I'm not assuming she will either.
But, I don't believe that Clinton would employ a false head injury if she does (I figured your head injury was in reference to the past head-injury incident, but I don't feel insulted that you explained/clarified as much).

I had the same initial reaction.
I figure maybe it's just a way for the RNC to get Trump to commit without singling him out. All of the other candidates have already made the pledge verbally, as far as I know. If Trump breaks his word later, the Republican candidates can use the broken pledge to assert that he's not trustworthy.
For Trump, agreeing to it is a good out if he has no intention of running should he not get the Republican nod and his supporters encourage him to make an independent bid. "Sorry folks, I made a commitment and I'm a man of my word." Also, if he believes that he has a chance at the Republican nod, he just gave Jeb Bush the finger. Bush has been accusing Trump of lying about being a conservative and a Republican over the last couple of days.

As for me, I wasn't lying. I really am not assuming Hillary will drop out.
I don't think the email controversy merits it based on what I know, and the Benghazi deal was already gone over with a fine tooth comb. The investigators criticized her for poor response to Stevens' security concerns, but she was essentially cleared and made corrective security enhancements immediately.
But, I think her opposition has done a good job of positioning the private email server/account a huge deal, positioning her as a consummate liar (whether it's true or not), and making her look suspicious. She handled the email allegations/controversy so poorly at the start that I'm not sure she can get out from under that black cloud. For now, she's still in the lead over all Democrats and Republicans when it comes to popular vote though.
Anyway, if she does fold, I highly doubt she'll falsely claim a head injury to justify it. I don't have any reason to believe her last head injury wasn't what she claimed and that it's no longer a health issue. Faking a resulting health condition would just be weak and stupid, and inspire probing from those who doubted the first head injury. I don't think Hillary Clinton is weak and stupid.

While I think the email is a bigger deal than HotD does, and her openly lying about things surrounding Benghazi was truly outrageous, she isn't going anywhere.
This is her last hurrah one way or the other, so she's going to the end.
