I think this Secret Service Agent should be fired immediately.

A top U.S. Secret Service agent posted on her Facebook page during the 2016 presidential race that she would not “take a bullet” for the GOP candidate, and eventual winner, Donald Trump.

“But this world has changed and I have changed. And I would take jail time over a bullet or an endorsement for what I believe to be disaster to this country and the strong and amazing women and minorities who reside here,” wrote Kerry O’Grady, the special agent in charge of the agency’s Denver region.

“Hatch Act be damned. I am with Her.”

The agent has been called to Washington to answer questions.

I respect everyone's right to free speech, but sometimes how one chooses to exercise that right has professional repercussions.

Since this SS agent can't put politics aside in order to perform her job objectively, she's not qualified and represents a liability to our country, in my opinion.

I hope Minister Ploumen succeeds...

Netherlands Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Lilianne Ploumen for the Dutch government has announced she intends to establish an international fund which would finance projects relating to access for birth control, abortion and women’s education, throughout developing countries.

Ms Ploumen announced the plan in reaction to an extensive memorandum signed by Mr Trump to restrict access to information on abortion for women who are in receipt of aid from international development groups.

Ms Ploumen said the fund could be supported by governments, businesses and social organisations concerned by the US President’s actions in order to “compensate this financial setback as much as possible”.

She told colleagues: “This has far-reaching consequences. First of all, for all those women who have to make, if they want to have a child, a choice, but also for their husbands and children and society as a whole. Banning abortion does not lead to fewer abortions. It leads to more irresponsible practices in back rooms and more maternal deaths.”

She also quoted figures from Marie Stopes International, one group which would lose funding under the initiative, suggesting up to 14 women a day could die as a result of the gag.

Underneath the singing, the chants, the witty signs and all those pink “pussy hats,” the reasons marchers came to the Capitol were deadly serious. It was more than women’s rights issues like contraception or abortion, or even the fury over campaign rhetoric many women saw as rife with misogyny and shockingly callous attitudes toward sexual assault.

There were women who rode busses for 10 hours from Flint, Mich., to remind everyone that they still don’t have safe water in that city.

There were families that went through the extraordinary effort of bringing a special needs child in a wheelchair to a massive all-day protest that exhausted even the fittest marchers, mainly because they were afraid of losing their health insurance.

There were LGBTQ kids who entered college or high school at a time when the White House was lit up in rainbow colors only to worry that instead of moving forward, they may have to fight just to maintain the status quo.

And there were Muslim-Americans who were in tears describing how they now feel like “other” in the country of their birth.

Moms born in Mexico City were there to show their American-born kids how to speak up for immigrants and for women’s rights at the same time.

And there were lots of fathers and husbands who came for their daughters and wives, or brought their young sons to a sea of women as a bit of an education.

When the march was conceived via Facebook, just a few months ago, it seemed that assembling so many causes into one effort would dilute the message and the energy of the movement. And it still remains to be seen whether the global protests that marked Donald Trump's inaugural weekend can evolve into an effective political effort for all these different needs. But many marchers insisted that this day was just the start of their efforts. http://time.com/4642574/women-march-portraits/
===================================

The peaceful resistance marches across the world last weekend were among the largest, if not the largest, recorded.

According to the news this morning, anti-abortion, religious, and conservative groups are planning a counter-protest this weekend. VP Pence will attend and President Trump may make a live remote statement.

Yeah Biggie, thank God a male Trump supporter came along to clean up the mess made by a massive peaceful crowd of predominantly female demonstrators.

You religious and Trump-supporting men save us independent women from our own choices and actions every time!

AND, you even care about the environment now (when it comes to saving it from nasty women).

Most women know that if they don't nag people about things nothing gets done, so I understand the movement. Its just moved out of the house and onto main st.

RE: EXERCISING YOUR 1ST AMENDMENT - HairOfTheDog - 01-27-2017

So very enlightening, Mags. You've got us nags all figured out. Lol.

Blowing-kisses

Just to be clear..........you appear to me to be battling against progress and equality and (with the exception of last weekend's marches) people who exercise their first amendment rights in the form of protests and demonstrations.

When black people take to the streets to protest for equal treatment and civil rights, you call them thugs or racists.

When anti-Trump protesters take to the streets to protest his proposals to strip people of their existing rights, you call them cry-babies and snowflakes.

When women take to the streets (many of whom, by the way, were single and joined by men) to protest threats to their rights, you equate it to nagging.

But, I doubt seriously that you'll have anything negative to say about the anti-abortion demonstrators exercising their first amendment rights in the streets this weekend since you happen to agree with their stance.

I'm battling against the threat of rights being stripped from women, gays, people of different colors and religions.......not battling men (and not battling other people's rights to protest and demonstrate, whether I agree with their stances or not).

RE: EXERCISING YOUR 1ST AMENDMENT - Maggot - 01-27-2017

Oh, I can agree that anyone can protest walk around with signs, yell and scream all they want, it doesn't mean that I will give a shit about it. As long as they don't interfere with others rights like stopping buses or crapping on the street or standing in the highway stopping traffic, I say let-em protest to their hearts content.

When burning a flag, Don't use the freedom of speech excuse in Iowa without a open burn permit .

It's not an excuse, it's a right protected by the U.S. Constitution, F.U.

But, as with any action in any state........if the law is broken while exercising a right, then the appropriate legal action applies and can be enforced.

If the demonstrators who got misdemeanor citations there choose to fight the charge, they may just win if there's evidence that people burn other things in that location without a permit.

RE: EXERCISING YOUR 1ST AMENDMENT - F.U. - 01-27-2017

The location is a Ped Mall downtown Iowa City. I know the area will. There is no other open burning in that area.
It may be a right, but you still need to follow the laws. And since flag burning is such a volatile subject be prepared for the repercussions of your actions.
The Fed Ex driver served a tour of duty in Afghanistan with a few friends of mine. Problem is by him letting his emotions get the best of him, I would not doubt he hears about it from Fed Ex.

You got stuck with a shitty crew. It's been my experience that most people pitch in to help when they see others working at a common goal.

RE: EXERCISING YOUR 1ST AMENDMENT - Maggot - 01-28-2017

I'm not good at being very P.C. when that happens.
