After world war 2 many veterans felt disenfranchised with modern American life and found it very difficult to readjust to civilian life. So a select band of them bought motorcycles, turned their back on modern society and took to the roads. N.B - None of them owned or bought Japanese bikes, NOT ONE. - BROTHER - 06-22-2009 LuMPyPussy Wrote:I skipped right over denial and jumped into anger. ::bravo::when did the reality snap in?: ![]() - The Antagonist - 06-22-2009 OP if I remember my 'bike history' correctly, the Japanese didn't get into the motorcycle market until the late 1950's in America. They brought over scooters and started the "anyone can ride a motorcycle" mania. I don't know if they made and sold full sized motorcycles in other countries but it wasn't until the lat '50's and early '60's that Japanese bikes became available here on a large scale. There were many different brands of Ameircan iron back then too. - LuMPyPussy - 06-22-2009 So the current crop of riders sort of inherited the tradition even if they've never been affiliated with the military?'
