The first arm of the storm just came through here. Hard rain, falling sideways. A few deck chairs knocked over and the dog's kiddie pool, which was on the deck, is now in the middle of the back yard. Some tree limbs also fell. No real damage.
Now a little rant...I told my husband that we needed to bring in the deck furniture and secure other outside items. He laughed me off, so I let it go (really, just to show that I was right). Well, I think the fact that the first arm of the storm coming through already knocked over some chairs and sent the kiddie pool flying across the lawn proves my point. But be damned...I am not going to bring them in. Let him get all wet.
Let's just hope that the deck table does not come flying through the kitchen windows. That would not be good.
Edit to add: OMG...I am really sick of editing my posts to make sure the grammar is correct. Fuck you Cracker and the other grammar police. I give up...take it or leave it. If you don't like the way I type, please just stop reading it.

No, I am south/central NC. Not all that bad here, just some arms of the storm coming through occasionally. Cherry Point is near the coast. I imagine it is much worse there. To make matters worse, the local stores closer to the coast in places like Cherry Point have stopped selling beer and wine, using the "state of emergency" as an excuse.

they won't be closed for 10 days, or i doubt it anyway. the cops are going to have enough to do in hit areas w/o fucking drunks making it more difficult! i used to be absolutely appalled in florida when a 'cane was coming all the assholes cleared out the liquor stores, their idea of storm supples. so when the 'cane hits and you're gonna die you can be falling down shitfaced when your family needs you! dumb fuckers. i'd see them staggering to the convenience store from the trailer park for their 30-packs, no groceries.

Well, already had plenty of supplies, but went to the market & got tons more. As the prediction here is anywhere from 5 to 7 days without power. Took in all possible projectiles from all around the outside of the villa, tied the BBQ to deck's sturdy railing. Now just hope the new roof installed 5 years ago, holds up to its 118mph wind velocity rating. Good luck to all of us in harms way!
