Ooohhhh, you have a brick patio. I like brick...a lot & stone too. I have an old soul, I'm not really into modern surroundings.

it's just a little walkway. i love brick and stone. my Dad made a stone fireplace in our home that was beautiful. but the weeds grow up between the bricks. 52

Look for something called "Round Up". I use it on my bricks/stone and it works great. You'll find it at places like Lowes & Home Depot.

If you clean out the weeds, find some moss mix it 5050 in a blender with some milk and pour it into the cracks you will have moss growing and not weeds. It looks cool and the weeds don't grow. Todays gardening tip. Smiley_emoticons_biggrin

Hahaha! Feeling industrious, eh, LC? 113

Maggot, I've done that with claypots because I like them to look aged.

How do you keep them in one piece? You must have a HUGE blender!

interesting, i never considered burying the vines. hell, i'd have to dig up the entire yard. they covered at least half an acre. Smiley_emoticons_skeptisch

South Dakota farmer Kevin Marsh poses with his 1,674lbs pumpkin - named the ugliest at a recent Colorado event. Right, his daughters sit on another giant pumpkin he grew - this one weighing in at 1,536lbs.
------>He says he buries vines as they grow so they get double the amount of roots, and uses a lot of organic fertilizers.

you know those big plastic storage bins? i just nearly filled one with apples from one of my trees, the macs have been very sweet, and they are falling on the ground like leaves, i don't want them all wasted! so now i'm looking at this thing and thinking i am NOT peeling all those little bitches! :bricking:
so i ordered this peeler thingy from williams-sonoma a few minutes ago. going to be some apple pies around here! Smiley_emoticons_biggrin

RE: how does your garden grow? - Lady Cop - 10-21-2010

whooo i have so much parsley i better go cut it today before it freezes. it's really nice, and i prefer it fresh to dried, but it's got to come in. i think i'm going to do some parsley-buttered potatoes.
i dry all my herbs in paper bags, they are perfect. some i tie and hang up.
that's IT, end of garden except a few die-hard green peppers. :B

WHAT? NO juice OR apple butter? Smiley_emoticons_skeptisch

RE: how does your garden grow? - Lady Cop - 11-05-2010

do you garden Tiki?
no apple butter, i get it home-made from a little market. any apples i don't use will go to the deer when the snow covers the ground. Smiley_emoticons_smile

RE: how does your garden grow? - BlueTiki - 11-05-2010

I do garden. Veggies and herbs.

But . . . it's near 90 degrees so winter veggies will have to wait just a little longer. Basil, cilantro, chilis and tomatoes are hanging in there.

Fresh citrus is just around the corner - friends and neighbors have trees.

Your "peeling apples" story made me smile. I have two apple trees at my house in Colorado. Even after picking, every morning there would be at least a Rubbermaid container full of apples on the ground. This went on for about two weeks!

Even the damn deer got tired of them! So I started juicing and used the pulp for apple butter.

Talked to the folks who are leasing the place, just the other day. They wanted to know if I knew anyone in the area who wanted apples!

i'm so glad another gardener is here! :B

i love my kitchen herbs. Smiley_emoticons_smile just go out and snip what you want fresh.

so obviously you are in a different zone, i just picked the last green peppers and it's done for the winter now.
