Child bitten in throat by German shepherd

A 5 year old girl from Pennsylvania is in the hospital after being attacked a German Shepherd which bit her in the throat. After several hours of surgery, she is on a ventilator and will likely be in the hospital for about a month. The dog bite attack happened at a farm that the girl and her mother went to visit. The dog was roaming the property unleashed and unattended, and the girl and her mother had petted the dog several times before the attack.

After the attack, authorities determined that the dog had been involved in three other dog bite attacks, including one where the victim's ear was ripped off. After that dog bite attack, the dog owner had been ordered to keep the dog in an enclosure or to keep the dog leashed and muzzled. He did neither of this things, with tragic consequences to this little girl.

Police: Owner to be charged after German shepherd attacks child

Friendswood Police believe that the quick intervention of neighbors during a dog attack on a child may have prevented more serious injuries.

Police say two dogs, a German shepherd and a Doberman Pinscher got out of the backyard of a house in the 500 block of Meadow Bend Drive on Wednesday evening (March 28).

One witness saw the German shepherd knock a young girl down and start biting her.

Another witness in a nearby home heard the girl screaming. He ran out and saw the German shepherd attacking the child.

The neighbors were able to stop the attack.

When a police officer arrived, he saw the girl covered in blood with bite marks on her arms, legs and buttocks.

Friendswood EMS took the child to the hospital, where she was treated and released.

German Shepperd Attacks Children in Homestead

German Shepherd mix breed recently attacked three children in Homestead. Apparently, it was the guard dog at a business across the street from where the children live and the business was closed for the day. Subsequent police investigation showed that the dog dug a whole under the fence, ran across the street to where the children were playing and attacked them.

Saved his younger brother

As soon as they saw the dog charging at them, the two smaller boys hid under a vehicle parked nearby. Then the oldest, 7 year old Timo Perez, blocked the attacking dog with his body, not allowing it to reach his younger companions. The children's father heard their screams and grabbed a shovel, repeatedly hitting the dog until it left. Timo was bitten in his arm, shoulder and head and had to be taken to Miami Children's Hospital.

Seriously? You're going to go google every big dog breed and post all the attacks. I knew that would get someone going, me posting a comment on other breeds.
This thread is about pitbull attacks, because they're in the news every fuckin day, other breeds aren't. You can defend your pitbull all you want...I'm sure it's a great dog and I'm sure you are responsible training him well. The evidence is overwhelming on this particular breed. Chances are he's not going to attack you or turn on you ever, but don't come in here and post shit about other breeds because there is no comparison.

And...you just posted the little girl was treated and released, most victims of pitbull attacks end up in the ground...like I said, no comparison.

so everyone please ignore all the evidence of pit bulls killing people in this thread since Adub says so.

Wolf Hybrid

A downriver couple is expected in court this week to face charges in the dog mauling death of a young child.

A 29-year-old Lincoln Park mother and her 35-year-old boyfriend are expected to turn themselves in for arraignment this week.

Police said the woman’s five-year-old physically disabled son, Kyle Holland, was attacked by the man’s pet wolf-dog hybrid, last July, while he slept.

A 2-week-old baby died early Sunday after being attacked by the family's dog in northwest Harris County, authorities said.

The boy was in an infant carrier on the floor in a room of the house when the dog, a Labrador mix, began sniffing the baby and then mauling him.

His mother was outside the house, watching the baby through a window, said Thomas Gilliland, a spokesman for the Harris County Sheriff's Office. The dog had been behind a pair of French doors but pushed through them before approaching the baby. No one else was in the room, Gilliland said.

Family members pulled the dog off and placed it in a kennel, authorities said.

Nah, it was all good until LC fantasized about pit bull owners having their arms and legs ripped off The_Villagers

RE: another attack by pit bull - Lady Cop - 05-10-2012

fantasies? go back and read the thread.
one dead after another.

RE: another attack by pit bull - sally - 05-10-2012

You just have to keep dogs away from small children and infants no matter what breed they are, especially if the baby is in a swing or carrier. Something about that sets the dog off. My cousins kid had half his lip torn off by a golden retriever when he was two.

When my daughter was born 18 years ago we had a white german shepard ( best dog I ever had, I'm convinced he was human) and while I would never leave her alone with the dog, I didn't think much of her crawling over and playing him. Now I wouldn't even chance it, I guess I just didn't hear about all these stories back then.

RE: another attack by pit bull - Adub - 05-10-2012

You LC used the word "should". Owners of pit bulls should have their arms and legs ripped off. I realize that pit bulls deserve their reputation. This thread freaks me out. I said that already. The news reports are horrifying. And hopefully they educate the public on the need to take care when their children are around dogs. And pit bulls especially. Since they have such a bad rep. But pit bulls are not the only breed of dogs that kill.

RE: another attack by pit bull - Lady Cop - 05-15-2012

now this is a case where if the child were hurt, there's only humans to blame.

horrible!

PARKER COUNTY, Texas -

A North Texas woman faces a multitude of possible charges after a baby and 58 dogs were removed from her Parker County property.

Authorities on Wednesday arrested Teresa Weldon at her home in the 900 block of Lynch Bend Road on an outstanding warrant for writing a bad check. However, Weldon now faces possible child endangerment and animal cruelty charges.

According to a news release issued by the sheriff, investigators found a 1-year-old boy in a crib surrounded by animal feces, which officials said was "alarmingly unhealthy."

County animal control officers also said dozens of dogs were living in their own urine and feces in the residence inside crates, some stacked on top of each other. Several outdoor pens containing puppies were filled with animal feces, urine and vomit, they said.

Many of the animals allegedly had no food or water.

"There was an overwhelming foul odor of dog feces which was detectable from outside the residence. It was extremely unhealthy for both humans and animals," the release quotes lead investigator John Qualls as having said.

Additionally, one puppy and one adult pit bull mixed breed required euthanization, officials said.

A majority of the adult dogs are listed in fair condition with at least 15 puppies considered in poor health, according to the release.

The canines were transported to the Weatherford-Parker County Animal Shelter.

Weldon had been allowed to adopt animals from an unidentified out-of-county animal shelter without a proper background check, officials said.

Weldon remains at the Parker County Jail

Thanks LC for clarifying that, I greatly appreciate it. Maybe I was acting a bit defensive to the reference to drug dealers. I guess a German Shepherd could serve the same purpose.

toledo blade story below
3 days old!!

May 18, 2012

Associated Press
TOLEDO, Ohio – An Ohio coroner's investigator said a 3-day-old infant died hours after she was attacked by a family dog while sitting in a swing.

The investigator told The Blade in Toledo the baby girl suffered head trauma at a home near Beaverdam in northern Allen County on Thursday evening. He said the attack apparently lasted only seconds.

He said the girl's parents were in a different room and said they didn't hear noises from the dog or the infant.

She was flown to a Toledo hospital, where she died. An autopsy was planned.

A sheriff's officer said the dog appeared to be a "pit bull" mix. It was put in the custody of the county dog warden.

Dr. Cynthia Beisser conducted the autopsy on Makayla Darnell, who was attacked Thursday while she lay in a swing in her family's living room in northern Allen County.

Her mother, identified as Audrianna Myers, and the infant's grandmother were in the kitchen. The father, Jared Darnell, was not home.
LIMA — A 3-day-old baby was killed by the family dog Thursday as her mother and grandmother stood in the next room.

Makayla Darnell died late Thursday after being mauled by the family dog. The baby was in the living room of the Thayer Road home, just north of Beaverdam, when the dog attacked her, said Jim Everett, chief deputy with the Allen County Sheriff's Department.

RE: another attack by pit bull - Jimbone - 05-18-2012

I'm not sure how anyone defends pit bulls. They are far too aggressive, and there are far too many irresponsible dog owners.

Sorry, but pit bulls have killed and maimed more people than any other breed. They are killing machines, and have been bred that way. It's too late to save them, and the line should end.

To be fair, I think the poodle line should stop as well. But that's because they look stupid.

THIS IS A WOMAN??? I had to back and re-read to make sure there wasn't some sort of mistake. My God. At any rate, I hope she's shot or making those animals and that baby live like that. It's disgraceful and shamfeul.
