Defense means you have to wait for crime to happen before you act, offense means you take steps to prevent crime from happening.
Like me wearing my weapon open carry, it's an offensive deterent.
unlike having to fish it out of hiding for the criminal to know he chose wrong.
You know even an empty holster when i'm in an establishment where weapons are not allowed lets everyone know I carry and that is a proactive deterent.

Bullshit. If you use football as an analogy, the defense doesn't act based solely on the offensive strategy. Quarterback rush? Carrying your open weapon is a defensive move unless you go out with it planning to shoot someone.

None of which is passive, which was the point. You introduced the "passive" language into the conversation. If you're actively deterring crime, it's proactive. If you're actively prepared to defend yourself against crime, it's a proactive defensive measure. Right?

@Dick, I don't ride currently, I find myself in a part of the country where riding is a rich man's hobby and until I can get back out west where I belong I'll stick with four wheels. But my family, friends, and background are loaded with bikers including my eighty year old pops who still gets on his bike and rides from Texas to Kansas when he feels like it. The vast majority of riders are salt of the earth. I'll always have your back in that argument.

Hoodrat crime is always going to be here, a person really cannot do much about it, just accept the fact it's going to happen just don't let yourself become a victim. It starts as a attitude that you must always have. Once that is established, or burnt in your brain you can become a ccw holder. Concealed carry is a great addition to some of the things needed to fight hoodrat crime.. Never rely on someone else to help either, especially the police , who are understaffed.
