I think what the poster was referring to was the death several years ago of an inmate in the Lucas County jail that was determined to be from asphyxiation brought on by a sleeper hold administered by several sheriff's deputies. The sheriff was tried for covering up the inmate's death and was acquitted this past December. So technically, not convicted of a felony but he is definitely not thought of as a great leader locally. I think the sheriff is a crook is MY WORDS. He was recently found not guilty in covering up an inmates death here at the jail...but several deputies were found guilty of various things. Under his command there have been several mishaps at the jail. sorry I can't be more specific. google it. I'm trying to respond and put my kiddos to bed at the same time. sorry.

Sorry to be so lengthy, lol.
My thoughts on what could have happened-
see recent posts. T was def involved and set them up. I think it was supposed to be just a robbery and something goes wrong. Either they are masked and someone recognizes a voice or Lisa struggles and pulls off a mask (another reason why she could have head injuries-hit as she struggled) the game is up-they can be identified. IF they planned a home invasion with Johnny and Lisa there to steal the drugs and $ only and disguised, that plan is over when they are recognized and they realize they cannot leave witnesses.
They no longer have any interest in stealing computers, jewels, etc in the home because those items will be traced to them. Instead they steal the drugs and all cash. Now what to do with Lisa and Johnny, the witnesses?? Lisa could freak and turn them in. Johnny could cut a deal to avoid going back to prison. So in their eyes they have to murder them.
They could have possibly brought duct tape if they planned to rob while L & J were in the house and just keep them subdued. I do not think they went there to kill at all but something definitely went wrong during the crime. They expected an easy thing. These were maybe young dopers and druggies looking for an easy score but not murderers until now. I hope LE has dusted all knives and other possible potentional murder weapons in the house esp the kitchen. Maybe they tried to get up the nerve to stab them with knives and picked one or more items up and just could not do it, or fought over who would have to do it violently-could not agree, and instead they used the duct tape and bags to kill their victims-not as messy if using a knife easily available. It's also why I thing this crime was personal and not professional-neither way of death would be easy but if you could kill them in a manner where you would not have to look at them as they died or had blood on you literally, it may be easier in the killers' minds if they have never killed before or did not expect to kill that night. I definitely think this was more of an amateur crime scene and there WILL be arrests. Proud of the LE there for keeping things so quiet and not many leaks so far-they care about this case/keeping it close to the vest and want to solve it and will do so in my belief.
People are in strong belief that this murder happened and the murder(s) got away with just $40. I don't think this is true. I think they got away with a drug stash and a big cash stash Johnny carried IF he was truly involved in drugs. Possibly even more if the family kept large amounts of cash in the house-expect we arm chair detectives do not know the half of this story yet...lots being kept quiet until they can nail these monsters...

I'm not sure that the sheriff deputies are all that experienced in this type of crime...which is why the FBI got involved (or so I heard). our sheriff deputies here in lucas county mostly keep watch over the housing projects and the jail... in no way do I want to sound demeaning to them... they also patrol the country roads which are in lucas county and outside of toledo city limits... I don't believe that their detective bureau is as experienced or as big as TPD....
This is the part that is worrying me greatly.

It's just a guess. YMMV. Why she phrases anything the way she does I have no idea. One thing we know, for certain, is that there is no way the physical Johnny will be sleeping with her. So, it sounded like she was speaking about dream time/astral world/spirit world, to me.

One last thing before I turn in:
Some people have expressed disappointment/fear that since a 5k reward has been issued within a week or so of the crime, the case is going cold and they have no leads so that is why a reward is being offered. The case is just starting and that could not be further from the truth, as I think.
Prosecutors require certain foundations before taking a case to trial to guarantee a victory due to double jeopardy, and I believe LE is simply covering their bases, plus wanting someone/as many people as possible to confirm the information that is known or will be found during scientic investigation of the evidence. A good defense attorney will do his/her best to get as much information as possible thrown out as this WILL be a high profile criminal court case so expect the suspects that are eventually arrested to be represented by top notch defensce attorneys. By having more people come forward with proven details about this case, it will solidify the case and futher the odds of a conviction. It is a standard practice in all communities to put out rewards such as this to get others to confirm details and agree to testify and/or lead them to important evidence in a case-even sometimes when the suspects are already proven/known. Offering a reward of $5000 within weeks of a hot case in no way means that LE is stumped or it is a cold case-they are simply covering all bases and hoping others with information about this case do the right thing and come forward and further build the case against their suspect(s) while the case is still hot/memories do not become an issue later and odds are peple are sharing incriminating details and/or evidence, or noticing odd behavior that could be associated with this crime scene and cause the potential caller to give a break in the case. Many cases have been solved or helped tremendously using this method of reward and I hope it does the same in this case to futher solidfy it to put the perps away.

I never considered it until I read your post a few nights ago and thought wow-this is an a angle I have not considered-that Johnny could have helped set it up-but could be true. The more I thought about that angle the more I discounted it. I thought yes, maybe Johnny set it up but only IF he and Lisa would be out of the house and far away. I don't know either of them personally but I hope he loved her enough that if he was involved in this crime, he would only agree to it if he got Lisa well away from the house because he would not want her in danger at all-plus he would not risk violating a probation by having something go wrong and have Lisa call the police if her home was robbed and he was known to be staying there recently. I just don't see Lisa's parents house getting robbed for items that could be traced via serial numbers worth his relationship with Lisa and revocation of probation if he was investigated and found to have a connection...Then again I am a sucker and romantic so anything is possible...we girls make some REALLY stupid mistakes for love...

It has been a couple days since I listened to the 911 tapes so please tell me if my thought process is wrong.....
The Sheriff was dispatched on the 2nd 911 call at 2:06 a.m., they stayed at the house approx. 36 minutes, assuming the sheriff's left at approx. 2:42 a.m.
Wasn't T at the house (she drove dad there), on the 2nd call, when Mom & the cousin had her blocked in the drive??
The 3rd 911 call, when they found them, came at 3:50 a.m.
My question: WHAT were Mom, Dad, Cousin and T all doing from
2:42 a.m. until 3:50 a.m.??? It sure doesn't take 1 hour and 8 minutes to look in the windows....that is an awful lot of time....do you see where I'm going with this?

Actually only about 16 states have "home invasion" laws. I don't believe Ohio is one. It differs from Burglary because you can commit Burglary whether the home/business is occupied or not. With a home invasion, the home must be occupied and you have entered with the intent of committing a crime and came with a weapon. At least that's how I interpret it.
Yeah, I have no idea about the various statutes. Just figured since Maytee has a B&E record, she's totally cool with entering the property of another with the intent of committing further crimes.

In short, you too are considering the possibility that Johnny was in on it until things went terribly wrong.
On the other hand, a new element has been introduced since the earlier speculation - that of an alleged ex-boyfriend of Lisa, who allegedly has a bad temper and just got out of prison.
If true, could this be a revenge killing? Could he have expected LS to wait for him?; since coming out, was he slighted, shunned or worse yet mocked in some humiliating way by Johnny and/or Lisa?
This is a new element to ponder. I wish we knew his name so that we could at least check out his complete criminal record, priors if any etc.

I would say that the TPD has more officers, resources, scope, experience, etc. TPD has many many detectives...vice, gang unit, crimes against people, special victims unit, cold case unit, etc. Our sheriff is a crook...but that's a whole other topic! I'm not sure that the sheriff deputies are all that experienced in this type of crime...which is why the FBI got involved (or so I heard). our sheriff deputies here in lucas county mostly keep watch over the housing projects and the jail... in no way do I want to sound demeaning to them... they also patrol the country roads which are in lucas county and outside of toledo city limits... I don't believe that their detective bureau is as experienced or as big as TPD.... the city of holland has a very small police dept. I have NO idea on exact numbers though...
My personal impression of the TPD's Detective Bureau is that they are highly professional; well-trained and experienced; with lots of resources to fall back on; and that the County Prosecutor and her staff work well with them.
The Sheriff's Dept however has always struck me as uniformed deputies appointed by the political patronage system and/or because somebody's brother-in-law needed a job. I hope their Detective Bureau is more than that, but I don't know and have my doubts.
Does their Det. Bur. have any depth in pre-screening; formal training; and experience in capital murder cases?
They only get one chance to do this right.
