RE: The truth about racism - Duchess - 02-18-2011

Many, MANY slaves loved their white "families" and did not have one fuckin' clue how to manage as free black people, nor did they want to. That's a fact, Jack.

No wine today, cold meds instead, no wonder it says don't drive on the label.

RE: The truth about racism - Cracker - 02-18-2011

I asked my friend if they still bitch about slavery at her house. She told me she tried it once when she was growing up. She told her mom she wasn't her slave when her mom told her to unload the groceries from the car. She said after her mom tried to slap the black off of her, she explained the only people who still complain about slavery are the descendants of field slaves. Her people came from "inside" and have complete family histories and are better behaved than many white folks. The field slaves bred like animals and produced offspring that still behave in the same sordid manner. Like generations of white trash. You can't really call it evolution if it is less than 100,000 years or so, but you can trace behaviors back over thousands of years.

This isn't my token black friend. We see each other over the holidays and we know each other's entire families. She isn't harboring any ill will towards me because of her great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great aunt. Plus, she eats my cooking, so I know she's cool with me. She told me black people don't usually eat white folk's cooking. hahahaha

Yes, you accidentally spelled something correctly.

UnUh. She eats it. I saw her. Spiced nuts, and loves these:

CANDY WITH SALTINE CRACKERS

Saltine crackers
2 sticks butter
1 c. brown sugar
chocolate chips

Line cookie sheet with foil and cover with saltine crackers. Boil butter and brown sugar for 3 minutes until frothy. Pour over crackers.
Bake at 400°F for 5 minutes. It will bubble. Remove from oven and sprinkle with chocolate chips. Let set 5 minutes. Spread chocolate with spatula. Refrigerate at least 1 hour; break into pieces.

Odly enough, it is Cracker candy. hahahaha (It's really good, I swear.)

I just got that. I'm going with a "yes" on that one.

I could be wrong, though. Nine generations in black America is like 75 years.

RE: The truth about racism - Cracker - 02-18-2011

It's a wonder hetero men even developed.

I would have never made it to 3 million bc. I would have stopped at 4.

But then, there would be no Maggot:

This is the BEST candy ever. I got the same recipe last year from an 85 yr old dairy farmer's wife. (Very cracker candy)
I get mobbed for the recipe every time I bring it somewhere. It's very addicting.

i agree with MF. i think this is in the genes, the self-preservation imperative of "us V. them". "them" is different so we are suspicious.

and netsleuth was being assailed over other stuff you may have missed.

Netsleuth was calling people racist. I saw that too. But I think if we are going to be honest with ourselves we all have to admit that we can at times be prejudice. I have been guilty of it sad to say.

Some of the things that Cracker is saying is true. The yelling and screaming at each other culture but not all are like that. Which is why you need to take each individual as you find them. I know, there is nothing more tiresome than someone with a chip on their shoulder.

Aussie: Netsleuth was calling people racist. I saw that too.

there. were. other. reasons.

RE: The truth about racism - aussiefriend - 02-19-2011

LC I read some of it back and forth. It was exhausting and what a waste of energy.

It is evolution and scientific. It was predictable and natural that a tribalistic social dynamic would result in conflict, dislike, and mistrust of other groups/tribes. Primates will sometimes "hate" another primate just because they eat differently than the others.

There is a built-in mechanism for caring and liking your own as a matter of survival. That is why racism flourished with humans.

If you want to think it is some totally made up thing out of nowhere with no connection to our animal past then go ahead and earn your new title of Delusional Bitch. Smiley_emoticons_bussi

The mechanism to protect and care more for your own and to dislike and mistrust other groups goes back millions of years to our primate ancestors. There are MANY things we do today as a direct result of our millions of years of evolving, bringing along that same basic primate core. Racism is just one of them.

My grievances are more economic than social. I don't care what you do if you finance it yourself. I do care if I have to contribute to your fuckedupness AND listen to your fat mouth at the movies.

Cracker draws the line at the theater. And in line at the grocery store. (thank gawd mostly white people like Publix hahahahahaha)
