I thought horror magazines like Fangoria were cool when I was about 12 then I grew up he needs to do the same.

He isn't doing anything different than what went on under Lady Cop's banner. I recall an entire thread devoted to the Mexican drug wars that was filled with absolutely heinous pictures and links. He's giving you a heads-up before you open the thread: if you don't want to see the pictures don't clicky the Linky.

That was one thread not an obsession.
I'm not particulary squeamish I have seen plenty bad shit go down in real life including traffic accidents, suicides and terrorist bombings. If I had known I would have captured it all on camera to give him some more nasty shit to post and wank over.
