The Trial - Cynical Ninja - 07-09-2013 On channel 4 tonight at 9 PM is a two hour court room documentary called The Trial. It was filmed over 6 weeks following the real retrial of a man convicted of his wifes murder in 2003 he appealed against his conviction and was successful. Now under the two strikes law he faced retrial for the murder. The prosecution and defence both give their evidence and viewers are asked for their verdict before the actual jury deliver theirs. Its the first time anything has been done like this on UK television. RE: The Trial - username - 07-09-2013 Huh. Sounds interesting. For a minute I thought we would hear the jury's verdict live. I don't want to post a spoiler but the case concluded in 2012. RE: The Trial - Cynical Ninja - 07-09-2013 I've resisted the urge to research the case online because I want to see the evidence and make up my own mind first. Our courts are normally sacrosanct the media can't even take photos in the courtroom the news shows have to rely on artists impressions of the goings on in the courtroom. RE: The Trial - Cynical Ninja - 07-09-2013 Seeing a court case like this in so much detail is unprecedented. Its like Catholics being allowed to the see the pope chilling in the Vatican in his papal underpants. RE: The Trial - Cynical Ninja - 07-10-2013 Well the majority of the jury found him guilty and he was sent down. There was no body found to this day and a lot of the evidence against him was circumstantial but he was convicted....again. After the trial some inadmissible evidence was revealed, apparently the guy had a long history of threatening, bullying and beating the crap out of his wife which does shine a different light on things. RE: The Trial - aussiefriend - 07-10-2013 Was there a home viewer poll as well? or just the final jury decision. I only needed to read the story the find him guilty. These guys just have no remorse. |
