North Korea executes 80 people - Maggot - 11-11-2013

North Korea publicly executed around 80 people earlier this month, many for watching smuggled South Korean TV shows, a South Korean newspaper reported Monday.

The conservative JoongAng Ilbo cited a single, unidentified source, but at least one North Korean defector group said it had heard rumours that lent credibility to the front-page report.

I was telling a guy at work that they were probably watching "Love Boat" ya know what he says? "Maybe it was Highway to Heaven" Smiley_emoticons_stumm

My God. Killed for watching unapproved shows.

I've read so many stories about how horrible it is there. I don't always agree with how things are done here but I love my country & so happy to be American.

Check out their sanctioned hair styles -

Last week, I read about an American Christian pastor based in South Korea who, along with his wife, arranges to drop Bibles in rural parts of North Korea using make shift big balloons and GPS technology. They've dropped over 500k or somewhere near that volume so far, IIRC.

Since possessing Bibles and practicing Christianity in NK is illegal and will result in imprisonment for the offender and his/her family, it kinda pissed me off to read that story. The pastor, on the other hand, thinks he's some kind of savior.

I'm all for freedom to recruit and freedom of religion, etc... But, it just struck me as very selfish to be recruiting (or supplying secretly practicing Christians) in a fashion that could cost the recipients so much. It's not a stretch that some unsuspecting North Korean kid could pick one up outta the field and end up causing himself and his family a whole lotta grief.

Maybe I should ask Dennis Rodman to go reason with the Bible-dumper. 52

I'm a big fan of kimchi, other than that I don't give a fuck what they do.

No of course the South Koreans would never make up horror stories about North Korea would they? They've always got along so fucking swimiingly!

Saying a bad thing happened in a totalitarian regime is like saying bears shit in the woods anyway. What reaction do people expect “I used to like North Korea but not after this!”

Killing niggers and Catholics makes me proud to be British.

I don't know if the rumor of 80 executions was ever verified, but it appears that Little Kim did in fact have his former mentor/uncle executed yesterday.

[Image: im-Jong-un-with-his-uncle-Jang-Song-thaek-2879280.jpg]

Snip:

The announcement came only days after Pyongyang announced through state media that Jang Song Thaek — long considered the country's No. 2 power — had been removed from all his posts because of allegations of corruption, drug use, gambling, womanizing and leading a "dissolute and depraved life."

The state news agency KCNA said a tribunal examined Jang's crimes, including "attempting to overthrow the state by all sorts of intrigues and despicable methods with a wild ambition to grab the supreme power of our party and state."

The report called him "a traitor to the nation" and "worse than a dog."

So, he basically executed his uncle for allegedly behaving like a Congressman.

Seriously, Thaek had been the driving force behind Chinese-style economic reform plans for North Korea and helped his nephew transition into power after Kim's father died.

Leaders in Seoul and elsewhere are reportedly nervous that Kim took out his uncle to further bolster his own power and go unchecked.

I'm always surprised when people are surprised when a dictator....acts like a dictator.

I actually had hoped that when he came into power he would be a civilized leader who would try to garner the respect of other countries. I really did. I realize now that was tard think.

Don't you just look at the pompous baby-faced little asshole now and know you could kick his ass?

I don't know why, but every time I see or hear about him blustering about, it reminds me of beating the living shit out of the bully, with a hair brush, who was pushing my sister and her little friend on the way home from school back in sixth grade.

I'd make that muthafucka cry like a little bitch!

I'm almost certain I could run circles around his doughy ass.

Lol.

I'm afraid it was “tard think” if anything he's WORSE than his dad and his dad was a mentallist.

RE: North Korea executes 80 people - Maggot - 12-14-2013

I bet there are people plotting his assassination now. His uncle had hundreds of "assistants" helping him and they have to be worried. They must get him before he gets them.

I'm one of those people who would hope against hope. Seriously. Even in absolute shit situations I look for something positive. It's the only way I can deal with bad shit.

RE: North Korea executes 80 people - aussiefriend - 12-15-2013

Is there anyway we can ship the 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' to North Korea and make them pay for their crimes against humanity?

RE: North Korea executes 80 people - Duchess - 12-15-2013

Wouldn't that be fun to watch! I know a couple of people with a great deal of money, they don't act anything like those flakes. They are productive individuals who work.

If anything I think the opposite might be true. He's sent a message “if I'm willing to execute my own uncle what makes you think I would give a fuck about executing you?”. If anything it will make any doubters or possible rebels fall into line.

RE: North Korea executes 80 people - Maggot - 04-16-2018

Has anything changed in 5 yrs?

RE: North Korea executes 80 people - Duchess - 04-16-2018

I don't think so. Awhile ago I went through a stage where I tried to find out all I could about what it was like to live there. It's so poor. On one hand I don't think the average citizen has a clue what it's like in the rest of the world and on the other I read about them having cell phones & DVD's smuggled in so I don't know for sure how much they know about life in other countries. We are so lucky to live in a country where we are free to make our own choices.
