r.i.p. AC/DC - Maggot - 04-15-2014

SAD LINK

AC/DC are ending their 41 year career on a terribly sad note.

Plans were underway for a new studio album, their first since 2008's monumental Black Ice, and a '40th Anniversary' world tour, 40 huge shows across the globe.

About 3 weeks ago, founding member, rhythm guitarist, co-producer and co-songwriter Malcolm Young had a stroke, which left a blood clot on his brain.

41 years? Are you kiddin' me?

I can't take any more of this shit. There might be a reason some old people get dementia, the passage of time blew their last fuse.

RE: r.i.p. AC/DC - HairOfTheDog - 04-15-2014

That's sad news.

They had a great long run; very ballsy band.

Despite having heard that song hundreds of times, it still makes me smile.

RE: r.i.p. AC/DC - FAHQTOO - 04-15-2014

One of the best Rock bands EVER!!

They put on the best concert I've ever seen. No band can match their performance on stage...IMO.

Wow, first time I saw those guys was 1975, Bloomington Il
I was 17 and stationed at Chanute AFB

RE: r.i.p. AC/DC - Duchess - 04-15-2014

Do I dare ask the obvious?

RE: r.i.p. AC/DC - HairOfTheDog - 04-15-2014

Smiley_emoticons_smile You might not wanna ask it in front of everybody, Duchess -- don't wanna embarrass anybody.

Perhaps take him aside and say something like, "hey Six, walk this way baby...I got something to whisper in your ear".

Then, with sweet emotion, tell him how it's not a safe assumption that big balls and that big ten inch come in the same package.

RE: r.i.p. AC/DC - Duchess - 04-15-2014

hah Excellent advice.

Psst, hey Six.

Didn't they "end" when Bon Scott died?

A stroke . . . where's the rock n' roll in that?

OD, alcohol poisoning, plane crash, AIDS . . . that's the rocker way to punch-out.

As long as Angus is rockin', they ain't over.

RE: r.i.p. AC/DC - Maggot - 04-15-2014

Dave Davies of the kinks had a stroke or two in an alley but he sees U.F.O's also. I can only think Malcom will get bored. I mean what else is there for an aging rock star? They have plenty of money.

You've never called me that before & it left me momentarily speechless. Ha! Now you know how to shut me up.

Where was I...oh..you posted Aerosmith. Do they remind you of AC/DC?

Of everyone in AC/DC, with all due respect, Malcom was the most replacable. But if Angus pulled the plug because of it... RIP.

I followed your link, Aussie -

Legendary Australian rock group AC/DC will continue making music but guitarist Malcolm Young will take a break from the band he founded because of ill health, the band said in a statement.

The pioneering group dispelled speculation they would disband after Young, 61, took his leave, saying "the band will continue to make music".

"Malcolm would like to thank the group's diehard legions of fans worldwide for their never-ending love and support," the group said in a statement.

The band did not say what sort of illness Young was suffering from or whether it would stop touring without one of its founding members.

The Scotland-born Young founded AC/DC with younger brother Angus in 1973.

The band has withstood the loss of key members in the past, in particular when lead singer Bon Scott died in 1980.

Their 1980 album Back in Black is one of the top-selling albums of all time, with more than 20 million US sales alone.

AC/DC most recently completed a 20-month world tour in 2010 in support of their 2008 album Black Ice.

During the last few days rumors have been swirling the web that AC/DC would finally be hanging up its hat and calling it quits. Now the band has issued the following brief announcement about parting ways with Malcolm Young and continuing on with new music:

"After forty years of life dedicated to AC/DC, guitarist and founding member Malcolm Young is taking a break from the band due to ill health. Malcolm would like to thank the group’s diehard legions of fans worldwide for their never-ending love and support.

"In light of this news, AC/DC asks that Malcolm and his family’s privacy be respected during this time. The band will continue to make music."

For me yes. I never really cared much for Brian's vocal style.

RE: r.i.p. AC/DC - HairOfTheDog - 04-16-2014

Well, that was a short disbanding (or rumored one).

Maybe Malcom's nephew will fill in for him again if the tour continues?

Anyway, sorry that Malcom's in a bad way, but it's good to hear that the band will keep playing if they're still passionate about it. Rock til you drop...

RE: r.i.p. AC/DC - Maggot - 04-16-2014

Well that's good.
