Got Rats?? - QueenBee - 06-14-2014 Mr Bee and I have been discussing getting new critters. Cats are out because I sneeze at them. So, we went to Lollypop Farm, the local Humane Society. Came home with two white rats. they are sisters, 9 months old. Brought them home this morning. This is the only picture I have so far, they seem to have found their spots. ![]() RE: Got Rats?? - crash - 06-14-2014 I never understood people who keep vermin. But vive Le difference.. She developed something akin to a chinchilla version of pneumonia. It is something they rarely, if ever, recover from RE: Got Rats?? - Carsman - 06-14-2014 What do "pet" rats eat? RE: Got Rats?? - SIXFOOTERsez - 06-15-2014 I am kind of into low maintenance pets, I have a 3 foot Ball Python named Ramalla that would like to meet your rats RE: Got Rats?? - ramseycat - 06-15-2014 I'm not into snakes either. RE: Got Rats?? - Maggot - 06-15-2014 I had a pet raccoon when I was a kid and a couple of snapping turtles I fed salamanders to. The Raccoon kinda got out of hand and was gone after he got his hands stuck in my Dads beard and started growling when he couldn't shake loose. I don't like rats much. RE: Got Rats?? - Duchess - 06-15-2014 I have a baby snapper in my garden pond, he's about the size of a fifty cent piece. He gets to stay for now but only because he's too small to eat my tadpoles. RE: Got Rats?? - Duchess - 06-15-2014 Yeah, I checked that out when I first discovered him. They double in size with every year of life. My big pond is full of them, the largest one that's been seen is about 18-20 inches across his back. They look prehistoric to me, that's how I tell them apart from the regular turtles. RE: Got Rats?? - QueenBee - 06-15-2014 Roxy is my alpha rat, she is on top. Daisy on the bottom ![]() RE: Got Rats?? - QueenBee - 06-15-2014 Roxy is my big drinker. ![]() RE: Got Rats?? - sally - 06-15-2014 Rats are very intelligent and make good pets. RE: Got Rats?? - ChicagoBorn - 06-15-2014 My brother has two hairless rats. He loves them and his dogs have been trained to not use them as playtoys. He even carries them out in public in his pocket. Not really my thing, but at the same time they are not in my pocket so don't see how it is a bad thing. RE: Got Rats?? - QueenBee - 06-15-2014 Roxy likes to go up onto my shoulder and sit there. Some rats can be trained to stay there while you are walking. Not all will become shoulder rats. My problem is I am afraid she will fall or something. Guess I will have to see if we can train each other. But, they have just lived here a day and a half now. That comes later. |
