DO You . . . . . . . . - Carsman - 07-12-2014 . . . . . . . . . . TEXT & DRIVE? (T&D) I have a friend that Texts while driving, and I won't ride with him in his car . So even though you know it's not only wrong to T & D, it's dangerous, do you still live dangerously and T & D? Oh did I forget to mention, my friend just totaled his car yesterday, luckily his guardian angel was with him, as he only got a broken leg. (I don't Text at all, ever. Don't like it, I'd rather talk) RE: DO You . . . . . . . . - ramseycat - 07-12-2014 I don't T&D. I will text if I'm stopped at a red light. I put my phone down as soon as the light turns green. RE: DO You . . . . . . . . - SIXFOOTERsez - 07-12-2014 No, its just too dangerous. I have been in the habit of using a hands free all the time with my phone and try to use seri most of the time for outbound calls. Got to clean up the contact list a bit though. RE: DO You . . . . . . . . - Duchess - 07-12-2014 Nevah. I rarely even talk & drive even though my car is equipped with bluetooth. RE: DO You . . . . . . . . - QueenBee - 07-12-2014 Shit, I can barely text when I am not driving, much less when I am. RE: DO You . . . . . . . . - Duchess - 07-12-2014 People do all kinds of things behind the wheel they shouldn't be doing. I've seen someone eating cereal, applying makeup, shaving, texting, making out, (do people even say that anymore?), slapping at their kids in the backseat, etc. RE: DO You . . . . . . . . - ramseycat - 07-13-2014 slapping at their kids in the backseat, etc. Shit. You saw that? RE: DO You . . . . . . . . - Donovan - 07-13-2014 As I have mentioned before, I do a lot of driving for my living. A lot. Both in the city and on multiple highways. And without fail, I see dozens of texting/phone using/ distracted drivers on the road. Their erratic behavior mimics drunken driving in almost every aspect: drifting over and sudden overcorrections, speed fluctuations, random lane changes without warning, lack of attention to road signs, signals and other drivers. I won't text and drive, it's simply too potentially dangerous. RE: DO You . . . . . . . . - crash - 07-13-2014 (07-12-2014, 11:15 AM)Duchess Wrote: Yep. That's me too. I drive a lot. I put on average 50000 - 60000 km on a car in a year. My work requires me to talk to a lot of people on the phone, and do a lot of problem solving/give advice on issues they haven't had any luck finding answers to. It's often situations that require my full concentration and a lot of thinking. This one time, I was talking to a guy (on hands free) about this particular machine. We were on the phone for a good hour or more. It wasn't until ten minutes after I hung up and had run through the whole scenario again in my head that is realised I was 30 km past where I was supposed to turn. Now I just pull over, turn the car off and bill some time.. RE: DO You . . . . . . . . - HairOfTheDog - 07-13-2014 If I had a set work schedule, I'd turn the phone off altogether when driving. Miss the days when going for a drive meant "outta reach". I've never texted while driving, but I do pull over a lot on longer drives to check texts and return calls. Get this, once I even saw a guy on motorcycle "SMOKING" what looked like a cigar! ![]() He however was on a 35mph road, but none the less) RE: DO You . . . . . . . . - Cutz - 07-13-2014 I smoked cigarettes while biking (the pedaling kind.) It's tough, and the cigarettes actually burn faster sadly, but it was totally worth it while I was still a smoker. |
