IS THIS INAPPROPRIATE DRESS? - Duchess - 11-29-2014



The Prez pardoned a turkey and his teenage daughters were there with him. Do you see anything inappropriate about the way they are dressed? I'm curious to know because of what a GOP staffer had to say about it.

First, insert a shrug here. They are teenagers. I would guess they want to fit in. Which is hard enough when your are a "normal" teen. But add to the mix, your dad is the POTUS. You constantly have the secret service on your ass.
The last place I would have wanted to be would be on television watching my dad, the leader of the free world, pardoning a turkey.

As for the dress, it is what kids wear. They are not showing cleavage, no bare butts. I think the outfits are appropriate for kids their age. But, never having been the parental unit of teen girls, WTF do I know.

I think the essay writer needs to back off, which I think she did.

OK, the boots do not fit the outfit. But let she who has never made a poor fashion choice cast the first stone

I wish they had their hands straight down. In our high school, skirts and shorts need to be at least as long as your fingertips, straight down on your thighs.

The skirt with the tights appears to be a little shorter but the tights help a bit.

I don't know. I'm old fashioned I guess. I'd like to see another couple of inches on those skirts (heaven forbid you need to bend over even a little bit) but QB is right, it's what a lot of teens wear and I certainly don't think they deserved the brow beating that one woman gave them. Over react, much? I love her back pedaling now. hah

Taking pot-shots at the girls and zero respect for the position of the POTUS.

I feel like much of the disdain the president receives is still based solely on the fact that he's black.

Those girls look like typical teenagers. My almost 14 year old grand daughter has been wearing those cute skirts for awhile (I bought most of them). I look at teenage fashion web sites to see what is the latest fashion for teens and was thinking about getting the shoes for her for Christmas. I think the short skirt, cute top, tights and those boots/shoes are darling. As far as the facial expressions, I did for just one moment, think, Oh God, typical teenagers. They are not politicians so for me, it wasn't a big deal, but probably Dad was a little upset.

I think it's funny as hell and as far as the woman and her comments I really didn't understand where they were coming from. I see teens dressed like that everywhere. I don't view it as inappropriate at all. The dumbass sure did backpedal.

It was really petty and stupid for the staffer to publicly go after typical teenagers' clothing in order to slam the President and First Lady, IMO.

I don't know what she was thinking, but Elizabeth Lauten killed her career and has resigned. Even the Republican National Committee admonished her (and took the opportunity to point a finger at the media and the Democratic Party for supposedly similar actions in the past).

Republican National Committee Communications Director Sean Spicer via Twitter on Monday morning: "Children, especially the first daughters, are off limits," he tweeted. But Spicer was far more displeased with the way the comments were covered by the media than he was with the comments themselves.

"While the comments were inappropriate and insensitive, the mainstream media's coverage of this story is appalling. In over 20 years in politics I have never seen 1 of the countless inappropriate comments by Democrats ever covered to a faction of this," Spicer added.
