AMERICAN SNIPER - Duchess - 01-14-2015

Have any of you read the book or seen the movie? I'd like to see it but no one else is interested and it's probably too weird to sit in a theater by myself.

I know how his story ends.

RE: AMERICAN SNIPER - ramseycat - 01-14-2015

I want to see it but am afraid I'll cry through the whole thing.

Shame you're so far away or we could go together. I'm thinking I might go check it out this weekend. I've decided I don't care how it looks to be watching alone. I hope it grabs my attention immediately otherwise I'm going to have ants in my pants and want to leave. I don't even know what it costs to go to the movies these days. It's been years since I've been inside a theater.

RE: AMERICAN SNIPER - thekid65 - 01-15-2015

Defo on my list of shit to rent when it comes out. I havent gone to a theater in ages.

RE: AMERICAN SNIPER - Duchess - 01-15-2015

They must have done a wonderful job with the film, the sniper's widow, father and friends said Bradley Cooper WAS Chris. They said a lot of very nice things about the finished product.

RE: AMERICAN SNIPER - Duchess - 01-15-2015

Bradley Cooper & American Sniper are nominated for Academy Awards. Nice. Smiley_emoticons_smile

RE: AMERICAN SNIPER - Blindgreed1 - 01-15-2015

I'd go see it at crossroads theater. It's a new theater chain here. They have a restaurant and full bar in the theater. The food and drinks are very reasonably priced and you watch the movie from the comfort of a leather recliner while being served your dinner (the food is really good too). Full price for two people with dinner, drinks and a new release movie = 50 bucks. I'll never go to another theater ever again. That's the way to see a movie. Also, free refills on non-alcoholic drinks and gourmet (all natural) popcorn. It's the bomb yo.

RE: AMERICAN SNIPER - Duchess - 01-15-2015

I think that's a great deal for 50 bucks! I recently read in my local paper that our theater had applied for license to serve adult beverages, I think that's an excellent idea too.

You can't beat it for $50. If you went to a sit down dinner before a movie it would cost at least 30 bucks. Average price per theater ticket here is 15 bucks. A couple of drinks at the bar after the movie is going to run around 15 bucks and that's all without tips. You really cant bet the deal and to top it off, you watch the movie in a comfy recliner.

RE: AMERICAN SNIPER - sally - 01-15-2015

We use to have a movie theater like that here years ago, they had the nice comfy recliners and tables and they'd serve you food and a bucket of beer. They shut it down and now all we have is the regular theaters. The ones where the seats are uncomfortable and you still end up paying almost 50 bucks by the time you buy your ticket, a soda, a bag of reeses pieces and an over priced bag of crappy popcorn.

RE: AMERICAN SNIPER - Duchess - 01-15-2015

My theater is new, I don't think it's even a year old yet, before that if people wanted to see a film they'd have to travel about 12 hr. Someone was telling me recently that one of the screens in the theater is reserved for families with children, I think that's a great idea too. I guess they think parents will be more tolerant of other parent's fussy kids.

RE: AMERICAN SNIPER - ramseycat - 01-15-2015

We have the dinner theater here. Come on down Duchess. We can have a date. Smiley_emoticons_wink

Next time I'm in the area I'll let you & Sally know. I'll get to meet Mock's East Coast contingent.

I haven't been to a theater in years either but I would DEFINITELY go to a place like that. If I had any motivation, I'd open one here. I think it would be wildly popular.

I don't go to theaters for the very reasons that Sally described. I'm much more inclined to wait and watch a movie in the comfort of my own home as opposed to sitting in a crappy theater where, if you want to drink, you have to "sneak" it in. Stupid.

I think I might read the book and then watch it when it comes out on DVD. I read Unbroken but I'm still looking forward to seeing the movie.

We currently have 2 locations here, and you have to get your tickets in advance online because there are never seats available on the day of. Thy're making money hand over fist on these things.

RE: AMERICAN SNIPER - username - 01-16-2015

Is it a franchise operation? I guess I could find out via Google. I think that would be a huge money maker around here. Seriously... I could see neighbors/people in the county where I live going crazy for something like that.

$$$$

RE: AMERICAN SNIPER - sally - 01-16-2015

Your kitchen isn't even done yet, now you're going to open up a movie theater with a liquor license? You may as well get into the weed business too when it gets passed. A movie theater that sells weed and booze, now that would be something.
