Michael Jackson sells out all 50 U.K. gigs
LONDON, March 13 (UPI) -- Organizers of pop star Michael Jackson's shows at London's O2 Arena, set to begin in July, say all 50 scheduled concert dates are sold out.

The BBC said more than 1 million tickets to Jackson's "This Is It" London concert series have been sold.

The 50-year-old U.S. recording artist, who last toured 12 years ago, initially announced plans for 10 London gigs, but more were added due to the overwhelming response from fans.

"We never thought '50 shows' and frankly based on the queues on Ticketmaster, plus the 300,000 registrants we still haven't issued codes to (for online ticket buyers,) we could spend two years here," AEG Live's Randy Phillips told BBC Radio 1's "Newsbeat" program.

"Mike asked me how long he would be in the United Kingdom for and I told him, probably long enough to get a British passport," Phillips added. "Michael's already pretty much put together a list of the dancers he wants. Michael's very engaged now."

The BBC said some tickets to the Jackson shows are being re-sold on eBay for thousands of dollars apiece.

He did have good music back in the day. Now he is just a freak.

- Cynical Ninja - 03-14-2009

I wouldn't cross the street to see him for free.

I think there is a lot of "lets see just how much of a train wreck he has become, lets go and look at the freak" going on here.

- Liquid - 03-14-2009

a freak who just sold 1 million tickets. I am not sure if it that is impressive or if it is incredibly sad how the British people and people in Europe in general still worship him.

- Cynical Ninja - 03-14-2009

Freakshows have always been popular in Great Britain, looks like they still are.

- Liquid - 03-14-2009

not sure this is a freak show over there. the Brits and Europeans still genuinely love him and worship him like an idol. It is very strange.

Regardless of what he has allegedly done or what he allegedly is, he still has a large back catalogue of material that most artists would give their right arm for.

Regardless of what you think of his personal life he has been making massively successful pop music for over 30 years.

here we agree. his music catalog is amazing and almost unrivaled (only a few bands/individuals can compare in his life long volume of work). What I was referring to was the almost blind forgetting or not acknowledging of all of the child molesting charges and law suits. And this was not after a long period of time or anything like that. Most of Europe accepted him with open arms the same day children were testifying against him.

- Cynical Ninja - 03-14-2009

Some people here still believe in all that "innocent until proven guilty" bullshit.

- SyberBitch - 03-14-2009

I don't think he ever molested anyone. He's such a child... if he's guilty of anything, it's probably massive 'peter pan syndrome'.

- Momster - 03-14-2009

Is he going to perform in a wheel chair with a mask on his face?

This portion of the post was enough for my vote. ::thumbs::

I don't think the 'robotic' arms and legs of his 'costume' are for show.

Would you be happy with him babysitting your kid/kids?

No, I didn't think so.

- sally - 03-15-2009

Why the fuck would a parent allow their kid to spend time alonewith himin thefirst place. I don't care how famous he is, I would not be dropping my kid off at wacko jacko's for the evening.

If my kid were quite a bit older, it probably wouldn't bother me. I wouldn't trust him with a baby or toddler, because I don't think he would be responsible enough to keep them safe. Of course, I *will* be teaching my son how to keep an eye open for possible child molesters, as any good parent should. I wouldn't doubt it a bit if MJ let boys sleep in bed with him... but I sincerely doubt he actually did anything TO them (not that I would be comfortable with that situation). Yech.

When he was on 60 minutes and he indicated he saw nothing wrong with having teenage boys sharing his bed that was it for me.

But see, that's the thing. No, I wouldn't want my son frolicking around in bed with him, but I think he really just SEES himself as such a KID, that he just doesn't see anything wrong with it any more than if he were the same age as the kids. It's freaky, but I don't think he molested anyone.
