Your custom title now reads Life isn't always black& white.

To me, that's a strange assertion for a cop. I think life is black and white. Right or wrong. There isn't much room for middle ground in any situation in my world. Why did you pick that as your title?

- OnBendedKnee - 03-13-2009

Two fold:
First, it's a bit of a play on words as the vehicle I drive for work is called a 'black and white'. Working as a cop is what I do, not who I am.

Secondly, regarding your assertion that real life is cut and dried, right and wrong- I disagree.

For example, remember you started a topic/thread a few weeks ago regarding a friend having an affair and how you kind of jumped on my opinion when I stated it was flat out wrong to cheat on a spouse?

You did get me to thinking afterward and although I still hold to my position in that thread, here's the greater picture- the world is multi-colored with many different mindsetsand although good and evil exist, "right and wrong" is not so narrowly defined.

Another example:
A jury of 12 thought it "right" to convict Bullet of the crime he was charged with although personally, having read the facts (as much as I can, online) of the case, I think they were wrong in their conclusions.

Thus my custom title.

Hmmm....interesting. I have to let that roll around in my head for a while before I come back to it.

Thanks.....::thumbs::

That shouldn't be a strange assertion because we all know that life is not always black and white.

Cowboy thinks like Sin does...Life is either black or white..right or wrong...He is as conservative as they come...I, on the other hand believe that life is mostly "grey" and the only thing conservative 'bout me is that I don't lift my skirt in public to show him I don't have any panties on.

I agree with you 100%, life is mostly shades of grey.

I don't trust people who think only in absolutes.

People who think like this often come across incidents in life that clearly demonstrate that things aren't all black and white.

- SyberBitch - 03-14-2009

I'm with Duch. I believe that there are very few things in life that are 'absolutes'. It's why the yin-yang symbol carries a lot of meaning for me. People tend to think, in seeing the symbol, that it represents 'black and white' thinking, when in fact it is the opposite.

The two swirls press into each other, constantly merging and emerging. The reason behind the 'dots' in the broad part of each color, is to show that there is always a little 'yin' in the yang, and always a little 'yang' in the yin. I would love to do an animated yin-yang.

Night and day, moon and sun, male and female... can't have one without the other.

And that was my attempt at profound for the day.

you are 100% correct - it is a white and black thing and not a black and white thing.

what a stupid, overused, over thought dumb symbol that means just about nothing, but some like to overstate its made up importance. kind of like a cross.

It doesn't mean 'just about nothing', nimrod. It's very overused, but mostly misunderstood and it's nothing like a cross. The fact that the symbol is overused, doesn't detract from its original meaning.

A 'cross' represents a style of Roman torture for criminals.

The 'yin-yang' symbol, represents an entire awareness of the duality of nature, as well as being a reminder that nothing is as simple as it seems.

By your line of thinking, any symbolism is 'stupid'. I realize that abstract thought is difficult for someone of your mental capacity, but without symbolism, our entire species would still be stuck in the stone age.

- sally - 03-14-2009

I'm in between. Some things are black and white and others are shades of gray. I don't overcomplicate or oversimplify.

Hey! Let's display our ignorance on a multitude of levels! ::lmao::

- Liquid - 03-14-2009

you fucking fools. I know exactly what it is supposed to be. I did that to mock it with the YYTwins. The joke is obviously lost on assholes like you.
And let's be honest, it is just a little drawing that SOME people attach meaning to. That is all. Just as many, OR MORE, people think it means absolutely nothing at all.

Some people think that letters mean nothing at all as well... but those are the people who can't read.

- Liquid - 03-14-2009

And some people cant see that dumb black and white drawing and it means nothing to them and those people are clinically blind. It is a cartoon, nothing more.

Some people can't hear birdies singing, but they're still there!
