AMAZON PRIME - Duchess - 12-27-2015 Do any of you have an Amazon Prime membership? Do you like it? Is it worth the fee? RE: AMAZON PRIME - BigMark - 12-27-2015 Got it for a secret santa gift three years ago, cannot imagine not having it now. RE: AMAZON PRIME - QueenBee - 12-27-2015 If you do a lot of shopping through Amazon, and plan to watch a lot of movies or series, then yes, a great deal. It more than pays for itself with the savings on shipping costs, and fast delivery. We have ordered stuff on Sunday, gotten it by Wednesday, no shipping costs. Very infrequent we have to wait longer. Rick watches a lot more movies than I do on it, but he will watch 2-4 in a weekend. Just this weekend, starting Christmas Eve, we got in about 6 movies. It is our new Christmas thing..and with Christmas being Friday it worked great. Only downside is occasionally things we want not on Prime, but most is. RE: AMAZON PRIME - Maggot - 12-27-2015 I got it just for Christmas RE: AMAZON PRIME - Cutz - 12-27-2015 From a business perspective - Amazon is losing money because they don't charge enough for shipping. Get Prime. RE: AMAZON PRIME - ramseycat - 12-27-2015 I have it and yes, it's a good deal. RE: AMAZON PRIME - BigMark - 12-27-2015 They are rolling out free two hour delivery in metro areas. RE: AMAZON PRIME - Maggot - 12-28-2015 That's almost as fast as the pizza guy. I've been waffling on whether I want to keep it or not. RE: AMAZON PRIME - thekid65 - 12-30-2015 It just depends on 2 things: Figure out approx how much you'd spend on shipping every year (keeping in mind that orders over $35 typically ship for free, but it's standard shipping, not the 2 day thing). Whether you'd also enjoy the movies and stuff that come along with it. I think the point of the thread was to get opinions from others. Ya know, I would have thought the same thing. How-fucking-ever, she asked a question. And the opinions of others that use it really aren't relevant here, as it depends solely on how much shit she buys from Amazon, and whether she can recoup the $99 in 1 year by getting the free shipping. That, and if she reads a lot of books, or watches a lot of movies...neither of which seems to be the case (or if she does, she doesn't post about it often). RE: AMAZON PRIME - Duchess - 12-31-2015 Tis true - I can count on one hand the number of movies I watch a year and while I do read I usually download a book to my iPad from my local library. I have to make up my mind today otherwise I'll be charged. RE: AMAZON PRIME - thekid65 - 12-31-2015 For me, really the only time I use it is during Christmas. The 2 day delivery kicks ass for us late shoppers. I do enjoy watching movies, but I certainly don;t spend $100/year on renting them. RE: AMAZON PRIME - Duchess - 12-31-2015 I cancelled. If I find myself frequently using it I wouldn't hesitate to get Prime though. RE: AMAZON PRIME - username - 01-01-2016 (12-31-2015, 05:04 PM)Duchess Wrote: Mistake. Anything you could ever want (even every day items like toiletries) is on Amazon and a lot of it is on Prime. I've bought coffee, teas, my daughter's typically expensive shampoo etc. and it gets there within two days. No hassle driving to the store. The videos (t.v. shows, movies etc.) are a bonus but I watch a lot of those too (and because they're free, if I start it and don't like it...no buyer's remorse). ETA: There are many more "gift giving" times during the year. Birthdays, anniversaries, mother's day, blah, blah. I'm going to a candle exchange get together in a week or two--I'm pretty sure I'll find something I like on Amazon. |
