RE: 79 DAYS... - Duchess - 12-15-2016

I'm so psyched for Christmas I'm damn near bouncing off the walls like a little kid.

RE: 79 DAYS... - Midwest Spy - 12-15-2016

It'd be fun to transform ourselves back to 8-10 years of age just to relive Christmas as a kid.

As a parent, Christmas is probably the best time of the year.

Which is why It's a Wonderful Life is so poignant.

Jimmy Stewart plays his role beautifully and he realizes, at the end, how much he would truly miss what he has.

Every dad who has watched the final 15 minutes of that movie can identify with what he's going through. The range of emotions.

Still on this year's 'to see' list.

That's pretty much me every Christmas morning. I have no shame, I'm the biggest kid around. I'm filled with anticipation.

RE: 79 DAYS... - sally - 12-18-2016

I put half of my daughters presents under the tree and the rest I hid in the hallway closet so I can put them out after she falls asleep on Christmas Eve so she'll think Santa was here when she wakes up Christmas morning. I had blankets over them and my son came home at 3 in the morning (probably drunk) and took the blankets out of there for some reason and just left the closet door open with all the presents showing. She woke up before me and came in my room and told me she has a big surprise to show me, all the presents in the closet. SOB.

I'm fricken exhausted. If I don't have to do one damn thing today it will be a good day.

RE: 79 DAYS... - Clang McFly - 12-26-2016

I might go see Rogue One today. Going to see about getting new growlers or a refund on our growlers we bought for Christmas Eve. They only filled them about halfway. Not looking forward to returning to work Tuesday. Had another anxiety attack. Also might see about getting a new computer today so you can finally see Miss Clang in the New Year.

RE: 79 DAYS... - Midwest Spy - 12-26-2016

My little guy wants me to take him to see Rogue One.

My wife is not excited because it's PG13 (he's 9).

Should I 'insist' I take him or cater to her wishes?

RE: 79 DAYS... - BigMark - 12-26-2016

Ask your other "little guy".

I don't think it's good to shield kids from everything. When you make everything into a big deal they'll think it's a big deal and wont know how to react to it when they do come across it.

But If she's going to withhold sex for a year then you might want to cater to her wishes.

RE: 79 DAYS... - HairOfTheDog - 12-26-2016

I agree with Biggie and sal, MS. Weigh the repercussions and decide who you want to disappoint less.

If going rogue and taking your son to the movie is going to result in a few hours of 'cool dad' status but like 79 days of cold shoulder from the wife, it's probably not worth it.

RE: 79 DAYS... - Midwest Spy - 12-26-2016

Appreciate the advice.

I'll feel her out to see just how strongly she is against him seeing the movie.

And maybe, just maybe, I'LL be the one withholding sex because I don't like what SHE'S doing.

lol

RE: 79 DAYS... - Duchess - 12-27-2016

Maybe that's the method to her madness. Har Har

Tell her the fate of the galaxy depends on it. If that don't work, dump a couple thousand Tribbles on her because she's obviously a Trekkie.

(I like both Star Trek and Star Wars, don't know why I made it seem like I hate Star Trek)
