I read something the other day, some sort of poll, and can’t remember where/when, but it essentially said that only 20% of high school students identify as straight.
The others are either definitely gay, or, the majority, are ‘Q’, questioning.

I told my daughter that every 2nd kid in her school and college were gay or bi and quite open about it. Back in my day there were two girls we thought were more than best friends and that was that.
