. . . . . . . . . . like a waste of money.
When the lease is over, you give them back the car and have nothing to show for the money.
Although many people do it, so there must be some advantages. One disadvantage is having a low annual mileage allotted.
If you continue to lease another new car, then you are always driving a new car. Advantage to many.
But then you are also always having a monthly car payment, & paying high insurance rates because the car is always new.
In my state a "property tax" is levied on cars, and the "leasee" has to pay the tax even though not actually owning the car.
The property tax credit goes to the leasor on IRS return, not the leasee. Doesn't seem fair, but that's how it is.
So why do people lease cars? I always buy my cars out right, paying cash, so no interest paid to banks.
But now that I'm rounding 3rd base and heading for home, I may be considering looking into leasing.
So do you lease your car, and if so, what do you think the advantages are?

never leased and always pay cash. Sometimes I use my credit union. But I hate all new cars like crazy. to many buzzers and chirps.

I've never leased and I paid off my car a couple years ago. I only have around 60,000 miles on her and I have no intention of getting a new one anytime soon. She looks as good as the day I brought her home. Good thing, cuz she old now.

My beauty that got totaled in SNAKEland (I HATE SNAKES) only had "55, 486" miles on it, and it had "ICE COLD" A/C.
(coldest A/C I've ever had in a car, always had to turn it down)
I had no intention of getting another car till now that I'm forced into getting one.

Well, I'm in new territory now, where I might not need a car a good long time.
I'm rounding 3rd base & heading for home.
Maybe I should start thinking of leasing a car for say like at 3 year intervals.
(I always get melancholy when family goes back home)

My lease is finished this month. I am just going to buy the balance left. Save and pay cash for maybe an electric car in the future.

Hi Aussie, are you a repeat leaser? If so, did you ever have problems turning in the other leased car(s) to get your security deposit back? I hear they check for dents, scratches, wear and tear, and the like, anything so they can keep your deposit.

Sorry to hear your confirmed misery that leasing causes. How much would the lawyer charge for the letter?
If it's only $100, then have him send it, at least you would get half your money back, and know the fact you won!

He was a community lawyer and it was free. Very upper class accent and a nice guy. But guess what, the money was returned to me.
I still have to do business with them in the future as the general manager knows, I need a new side mirror and they specialize in Volvos, which is what I have. XC90

Thanks Cars, yes I decided to just keep the XC90 as it really is a good family car, and its great to put the pugs in the back area when we take them out. My teenager likes to sit in the back so that she is like a rock star being chauffeur driven by me. It's black, with black tinted windows.

My airconditioner compressor is broken, is going to cost me $800 to replace and I don't know if service is ontop of that.
My Mum has thrown her false teeth out we think she threw it in the bin, we looked everywhere and couldn't find it. I've paid $1900 she gets them on Wednesday. I am going to be like the gatekeeper with these new ones.
