I'm exhausted - MirahM - 07-13-2021 I couldnt' find the random thread so here is my random post I am working 6 days a week right now and it is too much. I'm too old for this shit! Luckily it is only for this month. And yes I am thankful to have a job and yes I love my job. It is the heat that is taking it out of me. 2 back to back 12 hour days outdoors is enough for me. RE: I'm exhausted - rothschild - 07-13-2021 That's nice. RE: I'm exhausted - BigMark - 07-13-2021 Freezing cold butter toffee icecream monkey love. RE: I'm exhausted - Maggot - 07-13-2021 Yeah, the high heat bugs me too. You really have to do things slow like a rebel. RE: I'm exhausted - Carsman - 07-13-2021 Yeah, but you must have one hell of a tan! RE: I'm exhausted - cannongal - 07-13-2021 (07-13-2021, 06:21 PM)MirahM Wrote: ÷ And whose fault is that? You're willing to work 6 days a week. You could get any job you wanted right now, you just have to negotiate the price Are there not any job listings where you live? RE: I'm exhausted - MirahM - 07-14-2021 Places here don't pay enough. I could move back to the big city, but I choose to stay here. Originally I had more days off, but due to a scheduling mistake and another issue I am working more-its okay. Like I said, I really love my job. And also-it is the heat. Tomorrow I get to work inside the AC cooled office. I just had to complain. I will eventually probably need to find another "real" job if this one can't sustain me through the winter, but for now its the best job ever. RE: I'm exhausted - MirahM - 07-14-2021 Also I am working a 2nd gig, but it is only a couple of hours a week. It was closed for the pandemic and recently re-opened so I am there until they can find more people. IT IS ALSO A FUN JOB. But I won't be able to maintain it for very long. RE: I'm exhausted - cannongal - 07-15-2021 That's one of the cons to living in a rural area. In or near cities, there are tons of jobs, and some of them pay well, as long as you have experience. RE: I'm exhausted - MirahM - 07-15-2021 Yep, I've made a choice to stay in this area for as long as I can manage it. RE: I'm exhausted - Maggot - 07-15-2021 I can understand being exhausted. It's hard to get through but it depends on what company you do it with. Some places will take care of you in the future, some places will just say " fuck you" your young and that is good but you should place your bets with some company then do your side work. I've always said that the bread & butter of a stable company is nice but a person still needs to trust their side hobbies to really see their true potential, RE: I'm exhausted - Carsman - 07-15-2021 (07-15-2021, 08:37 PM)MirahM Wrote: Yep, I've made a choice to stay in this area for as long as I can manage it. Enjoy your job as long as you can afford to. There may come a time when money is more important to you. If and when it does, you'll know it and go after it. I did. My side gig job took care of us during the pandemic. It wouldn't feel right to leave them. I'm not doing anything else right now, so I guess I am just saving up. My main job may be seasonal anyway. RE: I'm exhausted - Maggot - 07-16-2021 When I was 40 I was doing all kinds of stuff. Building decks, roofs, landscaping all on the weekends after working a full week. Some Summers I never got a day off but I was greedy and the money was good. Now I value my time so things have changed. I was making 1500.00 a week and at the time it was worth it. Some weeks I made more, all under the table after my 40 hr job. That paid my insurance and rent and all my normal bills. I think most people have to have life experience before they "get it". RE: I'm exhausted - MirahM - 07-28-2021 I finally got caught up on some sleep today. Had today off, except for a couple of hours at the theater and I have tomorrow off. Yay! RE: I'm exhausted - MirahM - 09-25-2021 I called in to work tonight. (2nd job) I rarely do that. I'm really surprised I did it actually, but so glad. I am really exhausted. I think I also got a little dehydrated today with it being warmer all the sudden after last week being cold. My next 2 days are 12 hour shifts each. Sometimes they are light days, not difficult at all but they will be busy and it is just too much to get home at 9:30 PM and be at work by 7 the next morning. RE: I'm exhausted - sally - 09-26-2021 My son gets up on 3 story buildings hanging off the ledge. I don't like that shit. No one else will do the work and some asshole thinks we are going to do it for pennies. Fuck you, find someone else. We have enough one story stuff as it is. |
