Since MF locked one of the best discussions this forum has ever had about Stephen King and books, we start another one here.

Here are the most recent books I have read. I read mostly when I am traveling a lot and on airplanes.

Bill evans - Category 7
David Baldacci - simple genius, stone cold, the collectors, the winner
James Rolling - the judas strain
Killing in a small town.
30 Days Of Night (the book the movie was based on)
Steve Berry - the Alexandria link
John grisham - the innocent man, the appeal
Michael Crichton - next, state of fear
Michael Palmer - the first patient (just finished this one yesterday)

- Sinister - 01-31-2009

Good fuckin' topic, Liquid.

The Talisman - Stephen King (for about the 15th time)
TheDarkest Evening of the Year- Dean Koontz
All 5 Earth's Children books - Jean M. Auel (Clan of the Cave Bear, The Valley of Horses, etc.)
Insomnia - Stephen King
Desperation - Stephen King
The Watchers - Dean Koontz
The Perfect Vehicle - Melissa Scott Holbrook

As mentioned in the thread MF locked, The Talisman is one of my favorite books of all time and I consider it on par with The Lord of The Rings, Lion Witch, Wardrobe books

I always like Dean Koontz books - was The Darkest Evening of the Year good?

I really want to read 30 Days of Night and The Judas Strain. How were they?

- LuMPyPussy - 01-31-2009

Anyway, I'm reading a couple of books right now, one being a SK novel. This is about the third time I've read Desperation.

King's latest collection of short stories, "Just After Sunset" was his best in years. Highly recommended.

I know you didn't ask me but I'm going to answer anyway. It had some really good parts to it but ultimately I thought it was sentimental pap.

The last novel I read was an old one... 'Hell Fire' by John Saul. Sort of a ghost story, but I thought it was predictable and not terribly engaging. Right now, I'm wading my way through 'The Family Mark Twain' collection, just because I didn't really have anything else to read.

I used to read for HOURS, but now I find it hard to get time to read and when I do, my kiddo wants to be right in the middle of it, usually dragging over one of HIS books for me to read to him. So lately, I've read a lot of 'Noisy Animal Farm', 'Uh-Oh Bunny' and 'Shapes and Colors'. :p

Syber - 30 was OK. the movie I thought was terrible. The book is a little better. What I read is a compilation of the 3 part comic series that the movie was based on. Check out this link for more info - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/30_Days_of_Night
My friend had a book that combined everything (like they have done recently with the Watchmen series by putting all of the comics into one continuous book)

Judas Strain was a fun read. Here is more info about the plot at http://www.jamesrollins.com/books/view/8 - looks like it is a movie also soon.

hope that helps!

Thanks Smiley_emoticons_smile I agree that 30 Days of Night (the movie) was a letdown. I think they tried to cram too much into one movie and it was too scattered to be as involving as it could have been.

I'm looking forward to The Judas Strain, it seems like a page turner. Have you ever read Swan Song?

GREAT book of the post-apocalyptic genre. Reminded me a lot of The Stand, only deeper in some ways.

I'll have to look into 30 days of night
I watched the movie and was really disappointed

If you're a fan of dogs in general and Golden Retrievers in particular, yeah, it's a great book!

- Lady Cop - 01-31-2009

I was going to read those books, but HBO is doing a literal translation of them on the series (which is AMAZING AND ONE OF THE BEST shows on TV). I still might read them since I have heard they are so good.

Gee, I never would have guessed you'd go for that type of book. ::lmao::

I read it last year, and thought it was one of his better stories. Read it in a day. Started it on a Saturday afternoon, Finished it by mid morning Sunday.

As for books I have read, I recently finished Bones by Jonathan Kellerman. Not bad. I like a lot of Stephen King..but never got much into his Dark Tower series.
