Getting OLDER sucks eggs - QueenBee - 09-12-2022

I am almost 70 now, and while it is cool to not be dead yet, life can still suck

in 2008 had a hip replaced and did OK.  A few  months ago had to break down and get the other one done. Ended up spending a month in rehab because after 2 healthy years I caught Covid....while in rehab. WTF. Sucked to be me.  So QB now has to be an old lady and use a walker to get around.
Sucks to be me....but I am here and almost better than ever.

But, there are people worse off than me But, at risk of going all sappy I will just say life is OK.

Yeah, when I was still working “they” always said wait for your “ golden years “, and for
Your retirement. Yeah well those golden years turned out to be “the Rusting Years!   hah

QB it is really good to hear from you. I'm impressed with your ability to post this stuff. I'm happy to hear about your hips it means that you are still alive and kicking. Amazing I say. Here's some Maggot love.  Blowing-kisses

Alive yes...kicking, well, no more.  LOL  Getting old is not for sissys

I am pissed as not long after I got home, was getting out of bed and tripped over the feet and hit my ass.  Had to hit my "I've fallen and I can't get up. button"  Damn.  Well....life goes on

Im 65 and play over 60s walking football.  All the blokes have something wrong with them, most of it serious.   Keep moving, thats the rule to live by, be optimistic and have fun no matter what.

Good advice.

There is a neighbor that still drives at 95, and he and his wife 98 go out “ever single day”, no matter rain or 110 sunshine! Their mantra is they have to be on the move every day to stay alive!
Considering their ages, they seem to be right.

This is what life gives us I guess. You have your good times, you have your bad times, and if you're lucky enough to grow old you break your damn hips.

RE: Getting OLDER sucks eggs - BigMark - 09-14-2022

Hip hip decay!

The older you get, you find out that all the things you hear happening to others eventually happens to you. Good and bad.

A thought occurred to me,  while I was in the coronavirus thread.    If getting older sux so much,  why do everything you can to postpone the inevitable  (death)?

I guess it might be fear of the unknown,  but I'd rather not live through the 'golden years ', if it means being in nursing home,  hoping the jello is blue at lunch.    Meh.

Living the “Golden Years” warts and all is in fact worth living, that is if not afflicted with some dreaded disease. If afflicted, then all bets are off, life stinks!
Then, That all can change when the time comes to be forced to go into a “nursing home”!
It can be devastating, or turn out to be good, depends on the nursing home.
So stay young as long as you can.

They say being alive sure beats the alternative. A little lady in my building is about to turn 99. She crochets, plays bingo twice a week, goes shopping with her aide and still has all her wits.....whatever a wit is, she has them. And she can swear like a sailor if you piss her off.

RE: Getting OLDER sucks eggs - BigMark - 09-14-2022

Not if, when.

RE: Getting OLDER sucks eggs - rothschild - 09-15-2022

Death is merely an interlude.

RE: Getting OLDER sucks eggs - Duchess - 09-15-2022

Like an intermission? What's next?

RE: Getting OLDER sucks eggs - BigMark - 09-15-2022

the twilight zone

RE: Getting OLDER sucks eggs - Duchess - 09-15-2022

That's what I'm afraid of.

RE: Getting OLDER sucks eggs - BigMark - 09-15-2022

You have to stuff as much life in while you can.

The next chapter in your psycho-spiritual journey/drama. Death is an aspect of life. Life is eternal. Death is scary because it's an unkown, but if you think about it, so is life. Part of being successful is learning not to fear the unknown, but instead to perceive it as an opportunity to discover/develop our strengths.
