By the time you know you have rabies it will be too late to save your life.
When I think about this now it scares the crap out of me. I've handled a number of unknown animals in my life and never gave it a single thought. Have you?

Fun fact: Snakes can give you rabies especially if the area bitten is moist.

One of the damn feral cats from my old house jumped in the back of my truck while I was there and hitched a ride over here. She jumped out when I parked and is now living in the woods behind my house. I can’t escape these bastard cats so now I’m of course feeding her and I worry about her getting rabies from something out there.

You may want to consider not feeding her, and maybe she will go else where.

I’ve seen a rabid raccoon before, they are off balance and appear to be drunk.

There was a kid here who had to get the series of rabies shots in his stomach because he might have been bitten by a bat. They found the bat, but the people didn't put breath holes in the container so it died on the way to town.
So then when a bat got into our house I was freaked out-not for me but for the person with special needs who wanted to try to catch the bat. with his hands.
