SOLAR ENERGY - Duchess - 08-23-2025

What do you think of it, Mockers? Do you have an opinion?

Years ago we looked into green energy to run the farm, but at that time the cost was obscene and it's not much better right now. We knew that years down the road it would eventually pay for itself, but only after putting out major dollars. I would love to have all the solar panels we needed and I believe green energy is the way to go. I know others don't feel as I do, but I'm interested in reading your opinions nonetheless.

Not a real world opinion. I'm only interested in solar energy as it pertains to being the source of Superman's powers.

Our roof has a significant amount of solar panels on the west facing roof lines. We had to replace some battery or box that it feeds into when we moved in but that tells you almost all I know about it. At the beginning of every year we have to pay some “true up” fee to our electricity provider BUT I can say…even factoring that in, our electricity costs are slightly less than we paid at our much smaller house (prior…where we had 1 furnace and 1 a/c unit and now we have 3 furnaces and 2 a/c units) and we have the pool, hot tub and more).
Zero knowledge of purchasing a system though.

The main part of the valley I live in is hydro powered. The Ranch at the upper valley is powered by solar with back up generators. I don't think they have to use the back up too much. It is closed in the winter.

I think Solar power and alternate sources of power are just fine.

My heat is propane. But I use electric as propane is expensive.
