Ireland is no longer part of the United Kingdom!
Ireland gained its independence from the UK a few years ago. (not exactly sure how many years. Northern Ireland however is still 'ruled' by the Brits)
To further educate you, Ireland, being part of the EU, uses the euro as its currency, while the british still spend the pound sterling!
