You know, she might've gotten into nursing to HELP people. Management level is often filled with clerical/administrative duties that take you out of the front line. What job satisfaction would that hold other than a higher salary?

There are other things than just a higher salary, ranging from more saved for retirement to thinking beyond just the immediate management position. If one is happy not trying to excel and just wants to help people, then don't complain when you are at a level where someone riding with their boyfriend on a bike means you will be helping those people on July 4^th.

People can help other people a lot but not stay complacent or not get serious about excelling in their careers. You make it sound as if they are exclusive of each other. They aren't.

If you choose to focus on helping people in your career to the point where excelling or making more money to have a more secure life and retirement takes a major back seat, then you shouldn't complain when you are stuck working holidays when you've put yourself in a position that doesn't afford that control.

You jerk! I am an anesthesiologist and I do plenty of paperwork. I like what I do but if another asshole does not come in on their scheduled shift I have to fill in, I will not pass the responsibility on to another. It is others that donot fulfill their duties that are the problem dumbass! I am constantly going to school to keep up with current procedures required in my field. So kiss my sweet ass!
