Torchwood - LuMPyPussy - 12-22-2009

Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy! This is also 'watch instantly on netflix and the first episode is really good! More 'adult' than Dr Who with the same sensibilities.

You know what's weird is I remember my mom avidly watching Brit shows back in the 70s and I thought they were incredibly dull. I guess they've either improved a lot or my tastes have changed. They all seemed to be 'neighbor sitcoms' and the accents were unintelligible.

My TV watching has come down to the History Channel ... and The Office off of Hulu.com ...

RE: Torchwood - Cynical Ninja - 12-23-2009

Torchwood is basically Doctor Who with a lot of swearing and lots of sexual references, hetero, gay, bi and lesbian its all there if you keep watching the episodes.

You also get a nice amount of child unfriendly splatter and gore which is always welcome.

That would normally sort of annoy me but I think Captain Jack Harkness and Gwen are VERY attractive, so any situations they want to put them into is appreciated.

RE: Torchwood - Cynical Ninja - 12-23-2009

There is one episode where Gwen gets properly lesbianed up with a young woman possessed by a ghostly alien entity.

The episodes where captain Jack sucks the face of other men is pretty grim though and in later episodes he starts a gay relationship with one of the torchwood crew, can you guess who?

RE: Torchwood - LuMPyPussy - 12-24-2009

I think what I like most about it is that Capt Jack is kind of an asshole. A likable asshole but he's fallible, unlike the doctor. Saintly characters kind of annoy me.

Oh. My. God. The episode with the people in the prop plane that got trapped in time was fantastic. Being stuck 50 years ahead and how you cope was a brilliant bit of story telling. The son with Alzheimer's was heartbreaking.

Ooooh, Spike from Buffy is on the show now... I'm mildly aroused.

He gets very "friendly" with Captain Jack.

You'll be seeing more of Spike in later episodes.
