Calling all soup chickens, I've got a cleaning question - LuMPyPussy - 01-24-2010

Does anyone own a countertop steam cleaner thingy? Any recommendations if you do?

A little spilt milk and a half a dozen hungry kittens?

Thank you, I'll give that serious consideration.

OK, I am a bit challenged in decifering what a counter top steam cleaner thingy actually is, but I have one kind of like the attached picture. I use it in corners, the stove, countertops and stuff. Works OK.

Yes! Tell me more, please.

I had no idea such a thing existed.

I want one desperately even though I have no idea what they're actually called. Marie posts a photo but doesn't say what the name of it is. I feel great frustration right now.

What? I have to do all the work? Google hand held steam cleaners. Get one with the long nose like the one pictured. You can probably find one at target, or Wally-World. I think mine cost about $30.
The thing to remember is this, steam is hot. When you are done cleaning, you need to unplug it and let it cool down before you open it and drain any excess water, or to add more water to continue cleaning.

Steam is hot? What is this world coming to when such a thing is permitted to be!

Thanks Marie.

I think mine is a Shark. Check and see if they have them, I like Sharks.

This product is incredible for cleaning all kinds of difficult materials and locations. It's particuarly great for keeping gas cooktops clean - which is a real problem for anyone who's ever tried to accomplish this. If you own a gas stove or cooktop, you've got to get one of these

This thing is almost useless. I bought it thinking "well it probablly won't clean the grout, but the sinks and other small stuff." Well, it doesn't even do that. The steam doesn't get hot enough to do anything and there is almost a constant spray of steam coming out even when you are not holding onto the trigger. Would never purchase again.

I really don't think you need one, Lumpy. I mean what the hell are you doing in the kitchen that would require a steam cleaner, cooking up a mess of fried chitlins and ham hocks every night?
