MOVIES - Lady Cop - 07-24-2010 movies you like...movies you hate...give us a review (but not a spoiler) old or new, doesn't matter, what do you recommend (or not?) what's your favorite genre? RE: MOVIES - pyropappy - 07-24-2010 Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: Did your parents have any children that lived? Private Gomer Pyle: Sir, Yes, sir. Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: I bet they regret that? You're so ugly you can be a modern art master piece! What's your name fat body? Private Gomer Pyle: Sir, Leonard Lawrence, sir. Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: Lawrence? Lawrence what... of Arabia? Private Gomer Pyle: Sir, No, sir. Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: That name sounds like royalty. Are you royalty? Private Gomer Pyle: Sir, No, sir. Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: Do you suck dicks? Private Gomer Pyle: Sir, No, sir. Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: Bullshit. I bet you could suck a golf ball through a garden hose. Private Gomer Pyle: Sir, No, sir. Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: I don't like the name Lawrence, only faggots and sailors are called Lawrence. From now on you're Gomer Pyle. Private Gomer Pyle: Sir, Yes, sir. And the all time classic movie line: Are you quitting on me? Well, are you? Then quit, you slimy fucking walrus-looking piece of shit! Get the fuck off of my obstacle! Get the fuck down off of my obstacle! NOW! MOVE IT! Or I'm going to rip your balls off, so you cannot contaminate the rest of the world! I will motivate you, Private Pyle, IF IT SHORT-DICKS EVERY CANNIBAL ON THE CONGO! RE: MOVIES - Lady Cop - 08-08-2010 i like OLD movies, old Hollywood stars and B/W movies with actual PLOTS. good gangster movies like Godfather. historical costume movies like GWTW . i loved Braveheart, still do. Disney animation and especially MUSICALS! 'Chicago' was the best thing in that genre since Sound of Music. BRILLIANT! RE: MOVIES - pyropappy - 08-08-2010 L.C. there appears to be a slight difference to our taste in movies. RE: MOVIES - QueenBee - 08-08-2010 Hey, LC--you forgot this one--you and I both like it. RE: MOVIES - QueenBee - 08-08-2010 On the opposite end of the spectrum...I am one of the few people who actually did not like Titanic or Avitar. And just this afternoon Rick and I watched The Box on HBO or whatever channel it was on. Had Cameron Diaz and Frank Langella, It was absolutly awful. Made absolutly no sense watsoever. RE: MOVIES - Lady Cop - 08-08-2010 yes, a perennial...that comes under "old" and "musicals". Cagney was great! a song and dance man AND a gangster. RE: MOVIES - Middle Finger - 08-08-2010 I thought Apocalypto was very good. RE: MOVIES - Lady Cop - 08-08-2010 (08-08-2010, 10:39 PM)Middle Finger Wrote: I thought Apocalypto was very good. it was! thanks, i am going to go order it. RE: MOVIES - Lady Cop - 11-16-2010 i own every version of Christmas Carol that was ever made, and here is a new one available now (i ordered mine at amazon). i am a HUGE Scrooge fan~*~ a review: Fans of Robert Zemeckis's brilliant special effects, and of Jim Carrey's transformative acting abilities, will be swept away by their collaboration in the stunning A Christmas Carol. Perhaps more surprising is that Charles Dickens purists will also be impressed and captivated by this version of the oft-told tale--which is dark, complex, and in its way, uncompromising. Which is all to say that this Christmas Carol is an instant holiday classic, easily taking its place alongside the Alistair Sim version, the Patrick Stewart version, and even the Mr. Magoo version of the tale of Ebenezer Scrooge and his ultimate holiday redemption. Carrey is dazzling as not only Scrooge, the most miserable, and miserly, man in 19th-century England, but as the Ghosts of Christmases Past, Present, and Future. As with The Polar Express, Zemeckis animates the film over the actors' physical performances onscreen, but here, the emotion is intact--even heightened by the spiffy effects. Joining Carrey in the cast are terrific players, including Gary Oldman (Bob Cratchit, Tiny Tim, and the ghost of Marley), Cary Elwes, Bob Hoskins, and Robin Wright Penn. But the heart of the film is Carrey, whose dramatic acting has shone in films like The Truman Show and Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events. The emotional connection Carrey makes with his characters is what brings Dickens's classic alive--and what connects the viewer with the true spirit of the holidays. "God bless us, every one." --A.T. You're part of a brotherhood. From now on until the day you die, wherever you are, every Marine is your brother. Most of you will go to Vietnam. Some of you will not come back. But always remember this: Marines die. That's what we're here for. But the Marine Corps lives forever. And that means YOU live forever. So true. Seven Years In Tibet is worth watching (love me some dalai lama). Gosford Park is a good period piece. The Shootist always makes me miss The Duke. Cool Hand Luke is the best movie ever. The Imaginarium Of Dr. Pernassus is interesting because it was Heath Ledger's last film. My gay-ass self is going to Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows this Thursday at midnight. NO, I am not dressing up. I have to go in the middle of the night so it isn't full of rowdy hood rats. I hate the theaters in Georgia. RE: MOVIES - sally - 11-16-2010 My favorite movie is The Big Lebowski. I laugh no matter how many times I watch it. I've heard they even have a Big Lebowski cult following, but I'm not that much of a freak. RE: MOVIES - Cracker - 11-17-2010 If you don't join the cult following (ala Rocky Horror Picture Show), at least piss on someone's rug once in your life to honor the Dude. I'm pretty sure I've pissed on someones rug whether they knew it or not, I just can't remember who's. RE: MOVIES - Duchess - 11-18-2010 LC surprised me by buying that movie for me, all because I said privately that A Christmas Carol is my favorite holiday film. My favorite handbags are Guess & Dooney...just sayin'. RE: MOVIES - Lady Cop - 11-18-2010 Christmas Carol is my favorite book and movie also, i love every version...so we'll see how good this one is and compare reviews/opinions~ i think the George Scott is my favorite, but they all have their charm. RE: MOVIES - IMaDick - 11-18-2010 My favorite Christmas story is how the grinch stole Christmas , at least up to the point where the goody two shoes people turn the grinch into a pussy.
