Are Jewish People Oppressed? - username - 10-04-2010 Rick Sanchez of CNN was fired for laughing at the notion that Jewish people are oppressed, making a reference that many stations are run by people "like Stewart" and calling Stewart a bigot. Many people consider Sanchez's remarks anti-semitic. A link to the full story follows, but do you think Jewish people in America (Hasidic and ultra-orthodox Jews aside), are oppressed? Do you give a shit? http://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_upshot/20101001/bs_yblog_upshot/cnn-fires-host-rick-sanchez-over-controverial-remarks RE: Are Jewish People Oppressed? - Lady Cop - 10-04-2010 aside from the fiasco in the news, in general i think Jews have been history's classic scapegoat and slave, from pharaoh to ancient Rome to nazi Germany. then of course there are the negative stereotypes i needn't reiterate. there are some positive stereotypes also, that they are excellent family people who encourage their children in higher education. not too many drug thugs with their pants down their asses shooting up the 'hood among them. or meth-addled skinhead nazi-wannabe assholes. RE: Are Jewish People Oppressed? - username - 10-04-2010 Historically and still in certain parts of the world, absolutely. I don't know Jon Stewart's personal history. Maybe he lost family in the holocaust? Or maybe he didn't. Maybe he was taunted as a kid for being Jewish? When I look at him, I see an upper class, white male. White men in America don't typically fall in to the "oppressed category". But then, he's Jewish. My maiden name is very German and when I was a kid, I was called a "kraut" on more than one occassion. Does that make me oppressed? Oh wait, I'd be doubly oppressed since I'm a woman. Is anybody NOT oppressed? BTW, I didn't include Hasidic Jews because they dress funny and shit and those beards...They deserve to be oppressed. RE: Are Jewish People Oppressed? - Maggot - 10-04-2010 I feel most of Hollywood is overrun by Jews with a mission. Do I give a fuck......NO. In 30 years of dealing with the public I have never had anyone play the race, religion, sex card with me. The internet and media will find one example of anything and turn it into a big shitfest. Remember that everything you read is watered down or intensified x8 and everything that is thrown at you is never neccesarily the truth. 9 times outta 10 what you read is not what really happened. I see it all the time and take every news story with a laugh and a fuck you. RE: Are Jewish People Oppressed? - IMaDick - 10-04-2010 Yes, they are and have been since the exodus. Would you feel free having to walk around in circles in the wilderness for 40 years? RE: Are Jewish People Oppressed? - Maggot - 10-04-2010 Great pictures! RE: Are Jewish People Oppressed? - IMaDick - 10-04-2010 Thanks Maggot, I knew eventually someone less than optimal would recognise the effort I put into them. RE: Are Jewish People Oppressed? - Duchess - 10-05-2010 If they are oppressed, I'm not seeing it & the only time I even think about someone being a Jew is when I'm compiling a guest list and I pull their card out of my rolodex & see, NO PORK, written in red. RE: Are Jewish People Oppressed? - Carsman - 10-05-2010 In the days of pharaoh, & days of Hitler, yes. In today's society, absolutely not! RE: Are Jewish People Oppressed? - aknow - 10-07-2010 When Jewish men become circumcised it alters their brain chemistry for the remainder of their lives. Reminds me of a (sick) joke. A guy is walking down the sidewalk on his first date with a beautiful babe holding onto his arm. They pass a building where a where a Rabbi just did a circumsission, and he thows the tip out the second floor window. Well wouldn't you know, it lands right on the guys shoulder, and his date sees it and then asks what's that? The guy says, taste it honey, and if you like it, later on I'll give you a whole one! What does it do to fat, catholic Italians? Just wondering... RE: Are Jewish People Oppressed? - aussiefriend - 10-15-2010 I love jewish people. Gorgeous people. Obviously blessed which can create alot of jealousy. They are on the receiving end of alot hatred these days. Its not nice. I can see perpetual emotion transfered from generation to generation. This is the way and the folly of civilization. The problem with some people is that they will take a village, raise it to a certain standard then say "Now you owe me for helping you" Now I am not saying that this is the common practice with the Jews as it is common practice with any modern government. My question might be, can anyone become a Jew? In that context I may be right as everyone cannot become Jewish, because it is not only a religion but a birthright. Please enlighten me. On the current standard. As a Catholic I know that everyone is welcome into the religion, not just by right of birth. So can anyone become Jewish? Or is it a closed society. As might be certain other closed minded religions and standards? Be careful with your fucking answer. RE: Are Jewish People Oppressed? - aussiefriend - 10-15-2010 Gotta say your last remark put a smile on my face. I have worked in the middle east and its quite common "i help you - you help me" even amongst the arabs. So I don't know that - that is necessarily a part of jewish culture. I am not an academic in this area nor am I an expert. I believe you can become jewish by choice (just like Charlotte in Sex in the City) right? I know you can be arab and become Israeli. I would love to visit Israel one day. They have done a great job in just one generation. Damn straight it does...because they no longer have to worry about carrying around a fetid, witch's nose, schlong full of head cheese for the rest of their lives.. You are only a Jew if your mother was a Jew, it passes from mother to child, the father doesn't play a role in that particular aspect. I had this argument with that moron Moose. I said that a person can still be Jewish without practicing the religion. Everyone laughed at me and said I was stupid, but it turned out I was right . A Jew is any person whose mother was a Jew or any person who has gone through the formal process of conversion to Judaism. It is important to note that being a Jew has nothing to do with what you believe or what you do. A person born to non-Jewish parents who has not undergone the formal process of conversion but who believes everything that Orthodox Jews believe and observes every law and custom of Judaism is still a non-Jew, even in the eyes of the most liberal movements of Judaism, and a person born to a Jewish mother who is an atheist and never practices the Jewish religion is still a Jew, even in the eyes of the ultra-Orthodox. In this sense, Judaism is more like a nationality than like other religions, and being Jewish is like a citizenship. It also helps to have a big nose and loud mouth. RE: Are Jewish People Oppressed? - Middle Finger - 10-17-2010 I didn't know Rick Sanchez was fired. As for the Jews being oppressed, I don't know. They surely don't seem oppressed to me. If anything they act the opposite by me. I don't know, maybe people who think one or more Gods cares if they eat pork should be a little oppressed. |
