Yes! A lost child found alive and well after spending the night in the woods. 7 years old great news!

TEMPLE – A 7-year-old boy who had disappeared in the woods near his home was found this morning rescue officials said.

Erahl Chao was last seen Friday afternoon, when he went for a walk with a parent on a trail, according to police.

The Temple fire department was in charge of the search that began last night.

New Hampshire Fish and Game and emergency crews from multiple towns around Temple had searched for him, and a State Police helicopter also search the area.

Good news to counter the bad news. :B

i am glad to hear that! it gets damn cold up there at night now.

but i want to know how you lose your child on a hike when it's just the two of you.

Authorities said that the boy was OK, but suffering from hypothermia, News 9 reported. Police said that temperatures dropped into the 40s Friday night and the boy was only wearing a t-shirt, shorts and flip flops and fell asleep outside. He was taken to Monadnock Community Hospital for treatment.

A boy separated from his mother during a hike Friday spent the night on Temple Mountain, according to the N.H. Fish and Game Department.

Amanda Chao and her 7-year-old son Erahl were walking in a wooded area near their home around 3:30 p.m. when Erahl got lost, according to a press release.

Chao called the Temple/Greenfield Police Department at about 7 p.m. Department officials called conservation officers, New England K-9 Search & Rescue, Upper Valley Wilderness Response Team, Lyndeborough Police, New Hampshire State Police K-9 and helicopter and the Temple and Greenville Fire Departments to search throughout the night, the press release says.

The flip-flops kill me. I take my 7 yr old on hikes in the woods during the off-hunting season and would never allow those. I think the kid wandered off from the back yard. I make mine wear a whistle around his neck on a pc of rawhide and he aint afraid to use it! When I blow mine he is right on it, sounds like a cattle call but it keeps him in my area.

she claimed they were hiking together.

i took my kids camping in the White Mountains since they were little and never lost them. neither have you.
they always wore timberland hiking boots when we were there. not fucking flip-flops on those trails.
and it took her from 1530 to 1900 to report him missing? dumb bitch. i've seen mountain lions up there.
there is more to her than just negligence.

Well hopefully this will give the Mother a bit of a shakup and smarten her ass up a bit. I have often thought about putting a GPS chip in my kids shoes. But have thought that that would be the first thing a nut would discard. I have thought "Hey I should put it in a filling" but they brush their teeth to often. I would be happy with a simple button. These are the things I stress about, not the political climate of the day but the current happenings within my realm or sphere of influence.
Anyways, I'm glad this kid is not frozen onto a moss encrusted stump in some hallow under a bed of leaves.

Boston Herald:

A Conway family was blessed with a Thanksgiving miracle when their 7-year-old boy was found safe yesterday morning after enduring 16 hours of sub-freezing temperatures while lost in the woods overnight in western Massachusetts.

Cameron Pleasant, who wandered off while building a cabin with his dad in their backyard at 5 p.m. Wednesday, was found by a volunteer just before 9 a.m. yesterday, sitting on a makeshift platform he made out of sticks, said Jane Albert, spokeswoman for Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, where the little boy was taken for observation.

“His dad told me that Cameron had placed a pile of sticks at the base of a tree. And he leaned himself up against the tree and that’s where he remained throughout the night and that’s where they found him. Those sticks actually got him directly off the cold ground,” Albert said, adding that after his rescue Cameron ate a hearty hospital breakfast. “He’s in great condition. . . . He was just a smiley, happy boy.”

When Cameron wandered off in his red parka with matching gloves and a hat, he triggered a search that involved nearly 100 police and civilian volunteers, dog teams and a helicopter.

With temperatures dipping to 23 degrees overnight, searchers braced for the worst and prayed for the best. Their prayers were answered when a volunteer stumbled on the child about a mile from his house and handed him over to a firefighter and paramedics.

“He walked out of the woods with everybody,” said State Police Lt. David Wilson.

“For all that doctors and nurses in any trauma center see every day, this was the best Thanksgiving anybody could ask for,” Albert said.

Cameron was due to be released yesterday in time for Thanksgiving dinner with his family.

“Our Cameron is doing extremely well. . . . We can’t wait to bring him home,” his dad and mom said in a statement. “We will be forever grateful to all of you, and wish everyone a very happy and miraculous Thanksgiving.”
