Shoes - yes or no in the house? - ramseycat - 02-15-2011 Do you make people take their shoes off in your house? Do you wear shoes in your house? We don't ever wear shoes in our house. They come off at the door. It's funny because my kids automatically take their shoes off when they enter someones home. I don't always make other people take their shoes off but people that know us well just take them off automatically. Except my freakin sister. No shoes in her mansion but she NEVER takes her shoes off in my house. Another reason she isn't welcome there. RE: Shoes - yes or no in the house? - Lady Cop - 02-15-2011 it's cold up here, so i have socks or UGGS shearling slippers on all the time. i hate shoes! for years in florida i only wore shoes/combat boots for work, flip-flops the rest of the time! :B wearing shoes in my house is fine though. my other house up here i had a porch/mud room, the kids' shoes and boots came off there. I don't make people take their shoes off in my house, my new car is a different story though. Kiddin', just kiddin', about my car that is. Sometimes I wear shoes inside, sometimes I don't. One pair of my Uggs I sorta/kinda treat as slippers, I can be found in them quite a bit. RE: Shoes - yes or no in the house? - Lady Cop - 02-15-2011 YAY FOR UGGS! i have been known to even wear them in bed during fits of spider paranoia! RE: Shoes - yes or no in the house? - Duchess - 02-15-2011 Heh. We must have been posting about our Uggs at the same time. I've been told that Uggs are named that because they are ug-ly. I have several pair & obviously don't share that opinion. RE: Shoes - yes or no in the house? - QueenBee - 02-15-2011 I always take off my shoes and put on slippers....but I do not ask guests to. I have had some guests do so on their own, but normally I do not ask. RE: Shoes - yes or no in the house? - username - 02-15-2011 Depends on the guest. Muddy rugrats have to take off their shoes. My 80 year old mom gets a pass. I'm less concerned about it downstairs because we have hardwood. We recently put in new carpet upstairs though so I pretty much want shoes off at the bottom of the stairs (except for mom). RE: Shoes - yes or no in the house? - ramseycat - 02-15-2011 My Mom gets a pass too but her shoes are never dirty. I wear my slippers all the time too. Even in the summer cuz my feet are always cold. Maybe I should get me some Snookie slippers! ahahahaa RE: Shoes - yes or no in the house? - Lady Cop - 02-15-2011 UGGS aren't ugly! and i never wore anything more comfy in my life. i have several pair. but they do not have arch support. just cozy and warm. no socks needed either. i bought my nieces turquoise as well as pink UGGS boots for Christmas, and they refuse to take them off! hahaha RE: Shoes - yes or no in the house? - ramseycat - 02-15-2011 I have a pair of black Uggs and they are super comfy and warm. I wear them to work everyday and then change into my dressy shoes or boots. They however do not have any tread and I did slip on the ice in my driveway right onto my ass. RE: Shoes - yes or no in the house? - Cracker - 02-15-2011 There is no mud around my home, so we have a mat. Shoes or not, your choice. Roomba takes care of the rest most days. I take my shoes and pants off as soon as I get home, but it doesn't have anything to do with the floors. I'm more concerned with keeping food and drink at the table and making sure my dog realizes it's MY house. RE: Shoes - yes or no in the house? - thekid65 - 02-15-2011 You like your Roomba? My MIL gave us one for Christmas..and the jury is still out. Does a decent job on the spots it gets..but tends to miss quite a few spots, while constantly going over the same spot. Anyhoo, no problem with shoes on in my home, as long as they don't have dog shit or mud on them RE: Shoes - yes or no in the house? - Cracker - 02-15-2011 (02-15-2011, 06:27 PM)thekid65 Wrote: You like your Roomba? It's Ok for the main traffic area by the door and the middle part of the living room. I wouldn't buy another one (got a heavy discount on this one). I don't like swiffers. I vacuum the area rugs and have an old fashioned string mop I use on the floors (Pinesol makes me happy). I have a decent Bissell carpet machine I use every month or so and a Shark steamer I use if I feel the presence of too many germs. RE: Shoes - yes or no in the house? - Carsman - 02-15-2011 Yes we take our shoes off at the door, and we put them in a basket kept by the door. We don't force guests to take off their shoes, but most those who see us take them off usually follow suit. The reason is not just to keep floors clean. Studies have proven that the "bottoms" of shoes that have been god knows where, are contaminated with "germs" that can/will spread all over your floors/carpets, so . . . . RE: Shoes - yes or no in the house? - Maggot - 02-15-2011 nope do not take them off. Even in the houses that request it I just walk on through or just ignore them, how do I know they do not have tacks or glass spread around, what if I drop a tuba on my foot? RE: Shoes - yes or no in the house? - IMaDick - 02-15-2011 I wear boots all day, I take them off when I get home and my leather slippers go on, I would never ask people who come to the house to take their shoes off, they won't be staying that long, I fucking hate company. in fact guest are lucky if they get to come in the house or even want to come in the house, my Rottie fucking hates company more than I do, that's why I have her.
