"Help Japan" - thekid65 - 03-12-2011

So, there's this nice little link on my Yahoo homepage that directs me to a list containing multiple charities where presumably your donations will go towards "helping Japan".

Call me a callous S.O.B. but Japan needs no help, financially. Rest assured that anyone who donates to any of these N.P.O.'s thinking their hard-earned $$$ will go to directly helping Japan (a very well off country)needs to realize that their donation will likely go towards paying the salary of the N.P.O.'s fat-cat CEO's, as opposed to going towards actually helping the folks of Japan. What the folks of Japan will need are more in line with military assistance, and search and rescue/howdafuckdowepreventanucleaplantrmeltdown assistance. Of which, I have no problem providing, since they'd be funded by out taxpayer dollars.

Pisses me off that at the drop of any disaster that these charities come running out on the streets with their collective caps in hand begging for monies which they damned well know wont go to helping one of the most financially successful countries in the world.

Haiti? Fine..other 3rd world countries that need help with their ecologic disasters? Fine (albeit, most of those donated monies go to corrupt Governments, and the folks that need it never see a dime).

I can't help but wonder if on the Japanese Yahoo homepage several years back if there was a link to donate to the folks in Louisiana who got wiped out by the hurricane flooding..and how many Japanese, other countries donated?

Fucking charities....give me a break. Japan can financially solve their own problems, and can rebuild the damage caused w/o heartache.

Members of the G8 don't get my charitable donations during natural disasters, sorry.

RE: "Help Japan" - IMaDick - 03-12-2011

I will house a couple of 18 year old females at my house if that will help them out?

otherwise, I don't click links to donate money to anyone.

I agree but you caused me to google "international donations for Katrina". I fully expected to see a big, fat zero but surprisingly, I got this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_response_to_Hurricane_Katrina

Not that I believe everything I read on the internet but if that's accurate I'm surprised most of the countries gave us a dime. I'm still not clicking the donation link. As a country, I think we spend way too much money as it is bribing foreign countries using the polite term "foreign aid".

I did my part tonight. Sake and bento at this great little Japanese place.
And now, Japanese horror movies without subtitles.

lol@ the UK trying to donate 500,000 MRE's. Thanks guys, but we don't want any potentially diseased-laced food!

RE: "Help Japan" - aknow - 03-14-2011

I don't call you a callous SOB, I call you informed. I worked for the Am. Cancer Society for several years until I discovered that less than
20% of the donations went to anything resembling help for cancer victims. There were many many fancy dinners and elegant events, and most of the money filtered into wealthy patrons who didn't need nor deserve it.
I was shocked that within one fucking minute of seeing/hearing of this disaster, there was a large ad on Yahoo to give $ to Japan.

RE: "Help Japan" - Duchess - 03-14-2011

Hiya, Doc, how's it going? Long time no mocking. Awink

RE: "Help Japan" - aknow - 03-14-2011

HI, raising kids, animals, and dealing with serious financial challenges,
like most Americans, and waiting for assholic alcoholic attorney to stop delaying the finality of divorce proceedings.
Hope you are well, Duchess.
