Here Kitty Kitty - Meow - 09-05-2011

This is going on around the corner from where I live. Joy....

HARRISON TOWNSHIP -- Exotic animal experts were hoping to hunt down a black leopard on the loose Thursday night. It’s been spotted five separate times in the area of Needmore Rd. and N. Main St. since March. The last two sightings were this week.

Chris Walden spotted the leopard Wednesday night stalking through the woods behind his house.

“Something has to be done about this,” Walden said. “If it’s this close to people and their families, someone could get killed. And there’s a daycare right down the road!”

Authorities believe the leopard is actually someone’s pet that has repeatedly escaped.

“That’s a wild animal, you can’t tame something like that,” said Walden.

Exotic animal expert Tim Harrison and his partner geared up with dart guns and infrared equipment Thursday night to try and catch the cat before someone gets hurt.

“It could have gone home again. It’s like a needle in a haystack. This is a jet black leopard. It could be sitting in these bushes right now and we wouldn’t even see it,” Harrison said.

“It’s scary, it’s scary. It could be up in the trees and jump on us,” added Walden.

Harrison has a message to the owner of the black leopard. If it does come home, call his rescue organization, Outreach for Animals, and he will come remove the leopard from the house. He says having a pet leopard that regularly escapes is a recipe for disaster.Leopard Watch!

There's a cougar in our area that has been running free for years now. Every now & then it makes the front page. People photograph it, it has been tracked, blah, blah, blah, all to no avail. Your critter is probably a little more dangerous than ours but I don't see it as very threatening as long as it has a steady supply of food.

Having said that, tomorrow you will surely post that it has killed someone.

Can't stand these stupid fucking people that have these dangerous exotic animals as "pets", but its not a pet is it?, its just a wild animal they keep locked up although in the above case it doesn't look like they are even bothered about doing that!

Why would you want a leopard for fucks sake?, some kind of stupid status symbol?

RE: Here Kitty Kitty - Meow - 09-05-2011

The area this cat is running is along a river. So food shouldn't be an issue. The area is also a hot bed of drug activity. There's speculation that it belongs to a drug dealer.

Cougars are still ok somehow, but a Leopard is somewhat different. Right after Buffalo they are the most dangerous thing to hunt in Africa.

First, you don't see them. I was about 10 meters away from one, looking all over the place for a good 10 minutes without any success. They are even better at hide and seek than Osama!

Then, they used to hunt Baboons, which are build like us, therefore their hunting style is very different from the other big cats which come running in most of the time. A Leopard will use stealth to either come close itself or wait till its prey is close enough, then jump right on top of your head. The front paws and teeth will rip open your head while the back paws will open up your belly. At the same time.

However, since they are talking about a jet black Leopard, I believe it's a Jaguar. Never seen a black Leopard yet. Somewhat a bit more tame and also a cat that runs up to its prey. So don't worry, as long as you put on a chastity belt made out of metal, all should be fine.

They just love going for your balls. Or the place where they assume they should be.

Its' a black Panther.

We have a few around here.

They are native to Mexico but they don't have to obey the immigration laws and a fence won't keep them out.

.

RE: Here Kitty Kitty - Lady Cop - 09-05-2011

National Geographic, and other sources i googled, say black leopards and black panthers are actually the same animal. a thing of beauty in any skin.
i hope it doesn't have to be killed just for being what it is.

Most leopards are light colored with distinctive dark spots that are called rosettes, because they resemble the shape of a rose. Black leopards, which appear to be almost solid in color because their spots are hard to distinguish, are commonly called black panthers.

A "black panther" is just a melanistic jaguar or leopard, there is no seperate species called a black panther.

RE: Here Kitty Kitty - IMaDick - 09-05-2011

hah

That does explain a lot.

People from Nebraska who speak about themselves in the third person are a special kind of mong, extra special, almost exotic retards, almost as exotic as a black COUGAR.

RE: Here Kitty Kitty - IMaDick - 09-05-2011

The black panther actually resembles a leopard more than a cougar.

Panthers have spots.

RE: Here Kitty Kitty - Lady Cop - 09-05-2011

i think a true cougar more resembles a lion. or mountain lion, same thing.

oddly enough there was a NATURE show on PBS last night about leopards, they do not get along with lions. lions will kill them given the chance, but lions cannot climb trees as well, so the more agile leopards escape. lions are bigger and heavier, and will kill the leopard cubs too.
i think the leopard is a gorgeous graceful creature.
