I've come here for an argument - Itchy Brother - 09-18-2011 Hi all. I haven't really come here for an argument but I'm sure I'll find one. I've actually come here to add some information to the discussion of the Meredith Kercher murder trial (aka the Amanda Knox trial). I'm sure I'll meet some of you there. Later RE: I've come here for an argument - username - 09-18-2011 (09-18-2011, 09:08 PM)Itchy Brother Wrote: Later Uh oh, stuck in the 80's? Please lose the mullet, it was never a good look. RE: I've come here for an argument - Lady Cop - 09-18-2011 welcome to Mock~ there hasn't been much discussion of the case, but i expect we'll find out soon whether Knox will go free. The judge adjourned the hearing until September 23 when final arguments are expected to begin. The earliest possible verdict date is September 29. thread is here---> http://mockforums.net/thread-4687.html RE: I've come here for an argument - Itchy Brother - 09-18-2011 (09-18-2011, 09:34 PM)username Wrote:(09-18-2011, 09:08 PM)Itchy Brother Wrote: Later Say's someone posting pictures of cats on the internet. Now that's a good question. And I refuse to answer on the ground it will embarrass him. RE: I've come here for an argument - Itchy Brother - 09-18-2011 By the way, thanks for the welcome! The Kercher murder trial is a hot topic among a tiny segment of the population and it is a fascinating study in different justice systems, crime reporting, forensics, advocacy for the convicted, gender and race biases, etc. I saw some old tropes being repeated in the thread here and thought I'd chime in. That said, I think the answers in that particular case are not as clear cut as anyone would like. Why are you interested in the misery of other people? You crime forum folks are creepy as fuck. Plus, you are all retarded for trying to solve crimes at home. RE: I've come here for an argument - aussiefriend - 09-18-2011 When you start a thread saying 'I have come here for an argument' you are going to have Mockers coming out of the woodworks to take a sneaky peek. Certainly got my attention. Clever marketing. Nice to meet you. And I may be creepy, but it's not because I post in a crime forum I agree with you about the solving crimes at home bit. I suppose it is human nature to hypothesize, but we at home never have access to all the information available to investigators, lawyers, or jurists. Fortunately, I did manage to get the part about starting an intro thread. My subject was a riff on the old Monty Python skit and I chose it because... well, because Al Gore invented the internet so we could argue, didn't he? Or maybe it was to exchange pr0n or something? I don't know. I do know that nanoliters of electrons have been spilled in arguments over the Knox trial so I assumed I'd end up being a part of that here. I'm sure most of you have more important things to discuss. Yes, we do. Ham or turkey? RE: I've come here for an argument - Itchy Brother - 09-19-2011 (09-18-2011, 09:38 PM)Lady Cop Wrote: welcome to Mock~ Hi Lady Cop. Thanks for the welcome and the pointer to the thread. I'm expecting the guilty verdict to be upheld, but if it is overturned I won't be shocked. If they are acquitted, however, I will feel very sorry for the victim's family as it will just prolong their misery. RE: I've come here for an argument - Lady Cop - 09-19-2011 i've made you a member Itchy since despite claiming to have little forum experience, you did everything right. elementary one would think, but it seems not. the Knox trial hasn't attracted much discussion, unlike some other cases followed here. you'll see if you browse the 11 pages in the crime forum. for example, today begins the trial of the second defendant in the horrific Petit family murders in Conn. many hundreds read/followed part one of that trial. we also have a monster 16,404 post thread that had to be shut down because it actually was impacting the server, and part 2 added re: 2 still-unsolved Ohio murder cases. it brought many new members here, we are the forum of record on that case. if you have read Mock at all, you know free speech is encouraged and you will encounter the occasional insult. we don't babysit grownups like other forums do with heavy-handed moderation. and as you have mentioned...crap reporting is my pet peeve. it's a running personal complaint in many of my threads. there is no such thing as true investigative reporting and professional journalism anymore. or it's quite rare. today's 'reporter' can't even spell, never mind be arsed to get actual facts right. i did get the monty python reference. i'm curious how you found Mock since we haven't covered knox case much. |
