Things that make you cry... - imsuchawildflower - 10-19-2011 "It was really strange, they were holding hands, and dad stopped breathing but I couldn't figure out what was going on because the heart monitor was still going," said Dennis Yeager. "But we were like, he isn't breathing. How does he still have a heart beat? The nurse checked and said that's because they were holding hands and it's going through them. Her heart was beating through him and picking it up." http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/44960859/ns/us_news-life/?gt1=43001#.Tp9vV3JYGSo RE: Things that make you cry... - sally - 10-19-2011 I normally don't shed tears over old people, they're yucky and nuts. I mean I don't wish them harm or anything, but they just don't get my emotions going. The same with cats. RE: Things that make you cry... - imsuchawildflower - 10-19-2011 It was the love for me...they were holding hands. My son was at the hospital a month or so ago, visiting a friend. They were only allowed 2 visitors at a time, so when the kids mother showed up, my son went to the hallway to wait. Across the hallway, there was an old couple, who, the nurse later told him, had been married 68 years. The woman was dying, and the husband was sitting beside her, singing a love song. He sang it over and over again, tears streaming. He sang her to her next life. My son overheard the family talking after the woman had passed, and apparently it was the song that he sang to her at their wedding. It was their song. It still chokes me up to hear that story... That kind of love isnt as common these days. Im lucky enough to have found it for myself, so I guess thats why it gets to me. RE: Things that make you cry... - Maggot - 10-19-2011 I wish I could absorb the wisdom of all the older people and use it. But history is a cruel mistress. And I am just a person intent on my own life. For what it's worth........... RE: Things that make you cry... - imsuchawildflower - 10-19-2011 Every chance I get to sit with the elderly, I do so. Their stories are so compelling, their wisdom is first hand knowledge and hard bought, at that. They didnt whine, they didnt bitch, they never considered a government handout. They did what they had to to do, when they had to do it. Simple as that. I love that grit and determination... RE: Things that make you cry... - BlueTiki - 10-19-2011 . . . and pilfering their valuables when they nod off! RE: Things that make you cry... - sally - 10-19-2011 Elderly people are a pain in the ass, especially when they hire you to do something around their house, they obsess over stupid things. You're on your death bed, are your downspout extensions really that important, pal. Your pants are full of shit, but God forbid the Oleander gets washed out. When you get to 50+ years, you might be able to START to empathize. RE: Things that make you cry... - imsuchawildflower - 10-19-2011 24 years in March... We actually knew each other 3 days when he asked me to marry him. I said yes. Day 4 I found out his last name. We have 3 children and a grandson. I would come unglued at every seam if one of my children did that... I would never say never, but as things stand today, there is no divorce anywhere on the horizon. We are very happy...true story. Do you ever see things in a positive light? ever?
