Technically the vikings were there first.
All American accents come from theEnglish west country dialect, thats why you overpronounce your "r" sounds.

Not all Americans speak like that. Up north we don't over pronounce the 'r' but many areas drop them.
we've many different accents. The Midwest has an accent based on it's Swedish immigrants.
