My grandmother died at 99 and requested a closed casket. My uncle disregarded that and invited a few people to visit her. I declined but against my advice, my sister went. She came out shaken and said "that's not grandma" or something to that effect. Duh. My dad started changing within 20 minutes of his death; I know they clean people up but yeah, not in to the whole viewing thing. Never been to one. Family members of the deceased exhuming their ancestors' bodies and change their clothes as a way of remembering them. They then walk the dead around the village, almost like zombies.The ritual, called Ma'nene, happens every three years to honour the villagers' love for the deceased.
