I understand that many people chose to live in the city because of the culture & other entertainment venues and of course, work...I'm certain I would go mad in a matter of hours just from the sound of traffic alone...I need wide open spaces...Do you have a preference ?

i sure do! i love it out where there are lots of trees and ocean and a lake and even cranberry bogs, avariety of wildlife, virtually no crime, very quiet...exactly where i am! ::banana::

I love the English countryside, our 60mph single-track roads are the most dangerous in Europe (apparantly). They're really fun to drive down late at night.

It's also harder to get caught smoking weed when you go out into the countryside. Jackboots, what's your opinion? (Sorry for slight thread hijack lol)

Raised in Santa Cruz (California) and have always longed to live as close to the ocean as possible in my adult life, in a sleepy little coastal community.

Encinitas fits my needs and wants to a T.

i love your English countryside as well. i nearly moved there 3 years ago.

are you asking what i think about smoking dope? if you're out in the country toking a bone, i sure wouldn't go out of my way to bust you! ::pots::LONG before i became a cop, i had a nice little crop in my garden. ::bigg::

In my experience that's generally the attitude around here too Smiley_emoticons_smile

Although you get pretty screwed over if you crash and you're high, obviously...

Are you on any of those 'Cops on Camera' TV shows? - Had to ask.

i'm retired now.

but i didn't say i wouldn't bust someone driving under the influence of any illegal drug.

i have been on court TV testifying in a case, and the news once, but i preferred not to be.

I've always preferred the wide open. I don't give a flying fuck whether this place is a cultural backwash, with the internet you can have it all while still living in the land where viewing the milky-way with no light pollution is still possible.

I go to sleep to the sound of my heart beating and croaking frogs. Fuck the "city".

i grew up near DC and i do like some cultural stimulation...spent my entire younger years going to the Smithsonian, galleries, etc. i felt quite fortunate in that.

now i'm only a couple hours from Boston if i feel masochistic. loved Cambridge when younger. the entire collegiate scene, all the used bookstores, the history.

being a history buff, i enjoy what is around me in Mass. but i think a lot is a function of maturity or age. i don't give one rat's ass about nightlife and rather work in my garden. i love the natural world and the mountains of New Hampshire too.
